Everything you need to MASTER FrontPage and Web Publishing!,

This review is from: Microsoft Frontpage 97 Unleashed (Paperback)
Definitely THE book you should get if you are interested in FrontPage and Web publishing. I learned a lot reading this book and would recommend it to beginners and accomplished publishers alike. Mr. Stanek really helps you understand everything he discusses and because this book is 1200 pages it covers a lot of ground! I use this book to help me teach a class on Web publishing. Here's some quick start tips that have helped my students:
Beginners who are NOT familiar with the Web or Web publishing will want to focus on the early chapters (Chapters 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7) before they jump into more advanced topics. Be sure you understand the concepts of working with pages and webs clearly before moving on. Skip chapter 3, which covers how to set up an intranet. Beginners who ARE familiar with the Web will also want to focus on the chapters 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7 before they jump into more advanced topics. Be sure you understand the concepts of working with pages and webs clearly before moving on. Skip chapters 2 and 3. Accomplished publishers may want to jump straight into the publishing chapters (chapters 8-43) but should skim chapter 1 to familiarize themselves with FrontPage publishing concepts. Unless you want to do advanced development or develop custom solutions with FrontPage you may want to skip chapters 24-26, which cover the FrontPage developer's kit.

FrontPage 97 Unleashed is a great book. I have all three editions. If you use FrontPage 98, you should buy the latest edition. FrontPage 98 Unleashed. This book took me from knowing nothing to being the on site FrontPage guru! I love it!

When will the Unleashed people understand that we do not want a massive tomb to explain things? This book could have been cut in half and still provided the basic information needed. And I might add, in clearer and better writing. I do not understand the glowing reviews for this book. It is simply not the best for Frontpage. I came away from Don Doherty's "Teach Yourself Microsoft 97 In A Week" with a clearer head and a far better knowledge of FrontPage.
