Excellent Book, April 4, 2007
This review is from: Microsoft Office Excel 2003, Illustrated Complete, CourseCard Edition (Illustrated (Thompson Learning)) (Paperback)
This is a very useful, very helpful book about Microsoft Office Excel 2003 for the new user and for users who already have some knowledge on this program, but want to expand their abilities. It starts with the basics on Windows XP, then moves on to the basics of Excel, and works its way up from there. Learn about formulas, functions, changing font styles, inserting graphics, charts, macros, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), PivotTables, and much, much more. Each chapter in the book tells you step-by-step what to do, includes tips and explanations about each step, has pictures to show you what the screen will look like, and it has boxes at the bottom of almost every page to give you more information about anything else that you can do related to the current topic that is not already explained in the step-by-step instructions. Each chapter also has more exercises at the end of the chapter on purple-colored pages. Although this is a really great book for learning Excel, it is totally useless if you don't download the data files from the internet that were made specifically for this book. It tells you in the back of the book how to go about downloading these data files. If you're not familiar with downloading files from the internet, just get a friend or relative to help you who is familiar with doing those kind of things. For me, this book was required for an "Advanced Spreadsheets" class I have in school, but it is well worth the money that I spent, and I am enjoying every bit of this class because this book is so hopeful and I really enjoy working with Excel. Before I had this class, I didn't even know what Excel or a spreadsheet was, and just looking at Excel was "scary" and I didn't think I would ever understand it. Now, I can do many things with it, and really enjoy working with it. I highly recommend this book to anybody who wants to become an advanced Excel user, whether you're totally new to computers, totally new to Excel, or have some knowledge of Excel already.
