This package combines Bryan Pfaffenberger's fine Official Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 Book with a CD-ROM-based tutorial, making it the best choice for those who would prefer to learn Internet Explorer with the help of an animated on-screen guide. Pfaffenberger's book, sold and reviewed separately, provides excellent guidance to the ins and outs of Internet Explorer, NetMeeting, FrontPage Express, and Outlook Express. The author doesn't just document these programs; he shows how they work in the context of a complete online existence, explaining security, online commerce, personal Web publishing, and Internet communities with readable yet informative prose.

The CD-ROM-based portion of this package offers animated demonstrations of key Internet Explorer tasks. In these demonstrations a dummy version of Internet Explorer is depicted in a window. Animated cursors then busily perform tasks on the interface. It's like watching a movie, except in this case you can watch the key scenes as many times as you like until you understand how to do things. Once in a while you may be tempted to try to interact with the dummy interface--but you'll discover that it's not possible.
