Just got this keyboard today, so this is my first impression. Out of the box it dosen't look like anything special, just an ordinary keyboard, 6 buttons running down the left side are the only thing not standard looking. Software is simple and installs quickly. The feel of typing on the keyboard is very nice, fast and crisp. It is sized nicely with the keys all seeming have a natural curve (keyface) and distance for my hands and fingers. Key action is superb, just the right resistance with a nice "punch" when pressed. The backlighting has 4 settings, high-med-low-off and is clearly visible in normal office/household lighting. Many keys are programmable with either preset conditions or fully customizable (all the locks, windows key, etc.). Macros are simple and quick to program and they keys easily reachable with a pinky.
The negative points are few. First, the lighting is red, think Pontiac dashboard and you've got it. I would prefer blue, but it does actually look cool next to my blue lit mouse. Second, its glossy. I don't know what manufacturers fascination with shiny is lately, but QUIT IT!! Haha, seriously, would really prefer a matte finsh however this is not a deal breaker. Lastly, the keys keep with the glossy and are smooth on the surface. It is not slippery or uncomfortable, just different and takes getting used to. The key action and press feel more than overshadows this minor oddity. It is also worth mentioning that the wrist rest is inconsequential, it could just as easliy not be there.
In the end, first day, I can already tell I type faster with this keyboard than I did and that should only improve with practice. If it holds up for the entire warranty period without needing to use it then it will be money well spent. If it does fail, then the 3 year warranty is there (impressive length). The features are not overwhelming or extensive. They are what you need, at a price that is fair compared to the competition. No extra crap you'll never use, but everything you will use. In the bang for the buck category (many keyboards with fewer features cost more) this one stands tall.
I will now extensively test the anti-ghosting so prominently advertised with this keyboard. I can already say, in WoW the my old keyboard that this is replacing had several ghost keys (default Dell POS) and those same key combinations have not produced any ghosting at all. I look forward to running, casting, talking and jumping all at the same time.
Oh, and one more thing. Amazon shipped this post haste and it arrived well packaged and protected. Sooner than anticipated!!! Simply superb on their part.
EDIT: 10/16/10 Used this for several days now. It is very, very responsive. I am a person who tunes their equipment to the utmost sensitiviity (mouse is set to 5600 DPI, the max) and this keyboard keeps pace with the mouse. Hit a key, and it registers, NOW. That is of utmost importance for me. No ghosting, mushy feeling keys, I took to it fast and really really like it.
4/5/11 6 months later - fantastic keyboard. ZERO problems, works like a champ, macro's are easy, love it.
4/12/12 - Year and a half later and I love my keyboard. Still works flawlessly, well built and not a single problem.
7/15/15 - Holy cow, still using the same keyboard. If that's not amazing....then you've already seen everything. Works like it did on day one (Admittedly I've opened it up a couple times to remove animal hair...meh, warranty is up anyway). Not kidding.
