4.0 out of 5 stars Used to be better
I used to have an older version of Picture It! and it had slightly different settings. I miss being able to change the focus of the photo and see the result on the screen. It is important for some photos to be more focused and others to be softened. There is an option to change the focus but not until you get to the printing stage and then you can't see what it will...

2.0 out of 5 stars Some functions doesn't work well, poor quality, November 1, 2004
This review is from: MICROSOFT PHOTO PREMIUM 10 (CD-ROM)
PictureIt/Digital Image Pro Ver. 9 was better quality software. Version 10 made improvements on automating some tasks but made other fundamental functions work really badly: If you apply Red Eye correction, most of times when trying to increase the effect to achieve a natural eye color, the software inserts like a Black ring around the eyes!! Also, the sharpen function works pretty, pretty bad!!

I don't understand why releasing to market software with these kinds of bugs on features that are used the most? why if they were working perfectly on version 9?

I returned this very expensive ("very poor" price/performance) software to buy other program where all the editing functions work as they should!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not near as good as the older versions, August 13, 2005

I owned a couple older versions of this program. I bought this becuase my older software wasn't compatible with my new XP operating system. I was very disappointed when I found Microsoft has dropped many of the functions such as artistic edges and text enhancements such as shadows. I loved these features and found they recommended an "upgrade" to the Digital Image Suite. I thoguht I would do this, but I found you can't "upgrade." You have to buy the full version of Digital Image Suite for the full price. Ridiculus! I went ahead and purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements. I recommend you do too.

It is important for some photos to be more focused and others to be softened. There is an option to change the focus but not until you get to the printing stage and then you can't see what it will look like. Another idea would be to change the icons back to their familiar shapes with the apple for tint, the eye for brightness and focus, etc. Overall a good product but I look foward to seeing improvements.

I liked the older version better. I have a hard time making the projects I used to do easily.

1.0 out of 5 stars This what had been "Picture it 99", March 17, 2008

Microsoft had a great interface with Picture it 99. It was intuitive and projects could happen quickly. Digital Image pro 9 (Which I upgraded to) removed some of the key features of the former software. Some of the most powerful features, being the ability to stretch text and make size adjustments in real time were taken away. Insane. Now all I want to do is go back to the former system. I tried to install MS Picture it 99 only to find that it wouldn't install with all the XP updates etc. This is what I find discouraging about Microsoft products, just when you get used to a piece of software's interface, they change everything and remove other key features. Pure stupidity in my opinion.

Red eye is to easy to eliminate with this program. But there are other features that have since become favorites. I only use Picture It now.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not what I was looking for, August 20, 2009
This review is from: MICROSOFT PHOTO PREMIUM 10 (CD-ROM)
This product is very good for what it does. I was very pleased with the purchase process and the seller's quick response. However, it turns out that it does not due everything that I thought it might.

I decided to go with Picture It 10 based on Consumer Reports on this and other photo editing software. So far it has proven better than I would have expected. Pretty easy to get into and use from scratch. And it has many features new to me and has been easy to learn. Glad I got it.

I wasn't expecting an old version of Microsoft Picture It! I'm still looking for a good picture keeper that isn't so complicated. But I think it's worth three stars anyway.
