Comprising a book and a CD-ROM, this package includes some very good Office 2000 information. You'll find step-by-step procedures for such tasks as configuring Office applications to work with various languages and installing Office 2000 to work under Windows Terminal Server. You'll also learn what to keep in mind in special situations, such as when creating a compound document that involves elements from various versions of Office applications. Of particular note, the editors went to great lengths to include information on using Office 2000 in a multilingual enterprise--valuable stuff if your team spans continents.

The CD-ROM in this package is at least as valuable as the book. The collection of supplementary software includes tools you can use to salvage apparently corrupt Excel files and render spreadsheets Y2K-compliant by converting their two-digit year references to four-digit ones. I've purchased and used the Windows 95, Windows 98 and Internet Explorer 5 Resource kits to perform deployments across a LAN. The Office 2000 resource kit is an excellent resource that you'll just keep referring back to! There is so much to learn when deploying and customizing O2K, this book does a good of putting all the information together into a single resource. There are a few errors in the book, specifically some of the O2K system policies and the Terminal Server instructions for running the profile wizard on a per user basis. But hey, most of the O2K utilities work like their suppose to - a REAL surprise for a Microsoft product! This book does an excellent job of telling you what you need to know to get the job done. It also does well at comparing and contrasting different methods for customizing settings in O2K. I'd also recommend that you visit the Microsoft Office 2000 Resource Kit site for updates on utilities and more tips and tricks. Save time and frustration and buy this book!

This book is terrible. It is one big office 2000 advertisement. It only brags about the features of office and not how to implement them on my systems. It is very easy to locate the sections I am interested in but there is no detail or technical information.

Unlike previous MSPress Books entitled "Resource Kit", this book fails to follow suit in a big way. A more appropriate title would be "Microsoft Office 2000 Roll Out Kit". The book contains nearly zero information on how to deal with "situations". On the other hand, the book should have 5 stars if used as a Roll Out tool. If you are looking for tech support, find another selection. If you must force feed an install to the enterprise user base, then this is the place to start.
