Reviews of some of the other books in this series have remarked that some instructions and steps are left out. Well, I'm afraid so. I am working through the first section of the book and while the info they print is good, it is not complete. They skip transitory steps at times. I don't know if this is a fault of the authors or the editors. I don't know if they felt(perhaps rightly) that the book would be impossibly thick if they spelled out everything. However, since the books are written for middle-agers or seniors like me who may know zip about computer procedures, I think it is unfortunate that there are these gaps. Also, this company seems to pride itself on nice, big, easy to read print for middle age and senior eyes. Yes, the print and the symbols are nice and big but the reproductions of the computer screens are not. I can see them but I need good light and to hold them up close. THEREFORE, I can not look at the illustration and type at the same time which is a great big drawback for me. It might not be a big deal except that the writers emphasize that 2007 and 2010 programs are somewhat different and that there can be format changes from time to time. Also, since they skip steps, I must check their illustrations to make sure I have reached the correct step in the proceedings. I think I can get along with this book because I have rudimentary computer skills already and am not completely afraid to experiment. But it is a bit of a drag because I live alone and have no one handy to consult or read me the instructions as I go along. Isn't as easy to use these publications as the authors or publishers would suggest. FINAL WORD OF ADVICE: I would suggest that you try to lay hands on a copy, perhaps at a library before buying and look at it carefully before buying to be sure you can use it.

A lot of mistakes I made, could have been avoided if I would have known about the Books of the series " Computer Books for Seniors". I purchased from Amazon: Windows 7 for Seniors, Internet and E-mail for Seniors with Windows 7 and finally Microsoft Office 2010 and 2007 for Seniors. These Books were of tremendious help to me as I, at my age of 79 years, had to lern about computers and the different terminologie used there the hard way. So before I upgrade my Computer to a newer program, I will order from Amazon the latest Book about this program to avoid further mistakes.
Yours truly, Gerry

I borrowed a copy of this book from my public library and found it very helpful so I ordered my own copy. I strongly recommend this book for people who need help using their computers and have no one to help them. The illustrations are very easy to follow and it is written in plain language. It is a great resource book for beginners and intermediate computer users.

Wanna get seniors productive? Get them this book and in no time they will be able to use Office and produce beautiful documents. Connect seniors online with Microsoft Office and teaches them the basics of spreadsheets, word processing and presentation. Very nice (self-)teaching companion.

I just gotta say I love the Visual Steps method. A book that clearly shows visually how a program works and what you can do with it; it's an amazing companion for seniors and newcomers alike to learn to use a computer and the software attached. One familiar media (book) makes a smooth transition to teaching another media (computer / software) so you get best of both world. Connect the elder to the world and productivity with this book.

Falls short of its aim of providing clear instruction. I could not connect with the style of teaching and have had to resort to trial and error for the most part.

We are doing computer classes using this book at our Seniors Center. It is so easy to learn using this book.
The others in our class are impressed with it also. They didn't think they could learn and are finding out differently.

The book was very easy to follow at every step. Although I would have liked more detail in regards to creating greeting cards.
