Excellent book! It contains everything that's on both tests. A+++

I studied for the Excel Proficient User Exam (and scored 90%!), and this book was my only study guide. Very good reference book that I will use again since I'm studying for the Expert exam.

I passed both the Proficient & Expert tests with this book. I read it, answered all the review questions, then performed the practice labs! I enjoyed the CD that is included. Examples of the labs are included, and help if you are not certain what your finished work should look like. These books are great even if you don't plan to take the exams!! They are very clear, and have step by step instructions to all the functions of Word! I bought all 4 Exam books!!

As a professional instructor of Microsoft Office, I am always looking for ways to effectively supplement the material I give my students in the classroom. This book is the best book that I am aware of for learnig Excel 97, bar none. It is far better organized than the courseware I am required to teach from. With this book, I have not only gained many insights about using Excel 97, but I've also found a more elegant means of accomplishing the common and not so common tasks that Excel 97 can perform. Whether you are student, everyday user, or an Instructor of Excel 97 you will definitely benefit from this book. I recommend it without reservations.

I just wish there were more info about the actual test, as I'm still not sure what format the test takes, and they don't have any "real example" questions. But, it was a good quick read anyways.

After being absolutely thrilled with the Word 97 exam guide by the same authors, I was disappointed in the Excel version. While the coverage of exam topics and the format of the book is terrific, where was the editor? There are lots and lots of errors - both in content and typos. The review questions were not useful at all - they just echoed the topics covered in the section, e.g. "How do you do such-and-such?". Maybe if I hadn't read the Word book first, I'd be happier with this one, but I know the authors can do better.

Although I would never depend on one source to pass any certification exam, this text does help you understand many of the topics needed to pass the MOUS Proficient & Expert Level exams. I found the layout of the chapters a bit confusing artistically, but concentrating on the necessary tasks are helpful.
