A Must-Have!,

One of my favorite products! Upgrade from MS OneNote 2007 was quick and smooth. It does what it says it will do, and does it well. It allows the user to define the names of the notebooks and the way each of them is organized. It provides a perfect place to store all the odds and ends that need to be filed, but that don't fit anywhere else. I love the screen clipping feature! I recommend OneNote 2007 without reservation. Just take a little time to learn to use it the way it is meant to be used.

This is one of those programs that makes computers fulfill their promise. Its enjoyable to use and flexible enough that you can flip around to all of your "notebooks" and the various options for organizing without having to remember some filename. I'm also using the included version for my Treo 700W. There are capabilities that I haven't tried out yet, but I'm looking forward to doing that.

The OneNote 2007 upgrade is excellent and well worth the money.
However be sure to compare the current pricing between the upgrade and the full version of the product. When I purchased it yesterday, the upgrade was MORE EXPENSIVE than the full product! Today it's cheaper by about a dollar, but if the price is about the same it seems worthwhile to just buy another full license. You can also get a 60-day free trial version from Microsoft's web site to try it out. The trial can later be converted to the full version using the product key you get when you buy it, so if you want the product now but don't want to wait for slow shipping you can still get your instant gratification.

I recently bought Microsoft's Office 2007 suite for Power Point, and am very pleasantly surprised by 3 of the 4 programs, particularly, One Note. I had been looking for a personal and business organization program for several years, both for my own use but also as I write and advise on assistive cognitive technologies. I had only known a little about One Note. In fact, I had a conference call several months back with Microsoft's Accessibility division, and even they could not say or "get" how One Note might help persons who are challenged with memory and organizational issues. It has its own architecture quite different from other programs out there, yet having some semblence to the Microsoft line of products. On the good side, it is incredibly extensive it what I can do for those seeking to better coordinate all their documents, photos, email, notes, etc. On the down side, if you havent's worked with a program lie this before, you have a sizable learning curve in front of you. But I think its usefullness may far outweigh its time to master. I like its newer integration and voice/text synch and search capabilities with mobile phones. I have, however, noticed some performance issues and wonder if it could be clashing with other problems such as Live Search that I downloaded last year. I disabled that program as it wasn't worth the resources it consumed, and may not need to uninstall it due to potential conflicts. Overall I am very excited with One Note 2007, and expect I will find more usability and feature issues. But there is really nothing like it otherwise available.

I've been using OneNote since it launched a few years ago and it is one of the most fantastic programs I've ever used. I started with micro computers in 1977 and spreadsheets and word processing with Wordstar in 1981. I use about 40 programs at a time in whatever profession I happen to be in so I'm familiar with a huge range of PC software from accounting to 3D computer graphics to programming to video to CAD to Web tech. If you have the kind of life that evolves around ideas such as business or science then OneNote is a must have program.

I purchased OneNote 2003 (in 2006) becuase I had no hope of a new version coming out (it had been 3 years after all)... So waht happens...In 2007, they FINALLY come out eith a new version...and to add insult to injury they only discount the upgrade by $9 over the Full version of OneNote. Do yourself a huge favor and spend a tad more and dont' buy this upgrade (and also, DON'T buy the full version)...Instead, but Office 2007 for Home and Student for about $120...Becuase you not only get a full version of OneNote 2007, you also get Word, Excel, and powerpoint 2007 as well. Microsoft (as usual) pulled a fast one and dropped Outlook 2007 from the Home Student version of Office, but they added OneNote instead...but don't worry, you can still use Outlook 2003 with it so you get the best of all worlds. Home And Student Version of Office give you a TON more bang for your buck... |
