WORST UPDATE IN THE HISTORY OF SOFTWARE
on June 20, 2014
I am a Senior Project Manager and hold a PMP. I've done a lot of schedules. I know the software pretty well. MS Project 2010 was pretty good- had a good computer-centric interface. You could see a lot on the screen, it was fairly consistent with previous user interfaces. Not bad. But with MS Project 2013, the entire interface has gone off the rails and is barely usable. First, every graphical element is HUGE- like a learning app for a 5-year-old huge. It feels like it was made for children. Second, the useful features I go for are now hidden, and useless features are front and center. I use this to schedule construction. It seems that they are gearing it towards team leaders at an app start-up or something. Maybe that's who's buying it these days, but for me IT SUCKS. Third, the user interface is touch-screen-centric. Who on earth would use a touch screen to build a serious schedule? Don't get me wrong, I love touch screens, BUT NOT FOR BUILDING A CRITICAL PATH METHOD SCHEDULE. Save yourself a big headache- either buy MS Project 2010 or DO NOT UPGRADE TO THIS. God, I hate this interface. Trying to get the I.T. Department to undo it. Yuk.
