Very well done-Like reading a novel while using the computer, April 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Microsoft Publisher 98 by Design (Paperback)
I have found few computer books that can be used both as a reference manual and as a way of learning the programs ins and outs. This satisfied both needs for me. A very good job of describing many of the potholes that might be encountered and descriptions of what to do. The program must have been used to write the book.

Well organized, easy to follow, worth every minute & dollar., February 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Microsoft Publisher 98 by Design (Paperback)
Even experienced users will learn something from this book. I have used Microsoft Publisher for several years, but it wasn't until I read Microsoft Publisher 98 By Design that I really understood the program. Ms. Simone does an excellent job of explaining how each and every tool works. After reading this book I felt confident using advanced functions, like mail merge, and even designed my own Web site!

More than just a how-to guide, this book augments step-by-step instructions with excellent design projects that can teach you a lot about composing effective documents. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and the book is loaded with graphics that walk you through Publisher's features and functions. For its power and troubleshooting tips alone, this book is a great buy!

A technically savvy guide to Microsoft Publisher., February 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Microsoft Publisher 98 by Design (Paperback)
This is really two books in one. The first part of the book is a technical guide to Microsoft Publisher. This section includes lots of screen shots and step-by-step instructions that are far superior to the skimpy manual that comes with Publisher. In the second part of the book Ms. Simone teaches you the basics of good design by walking you through 13 original projects. Whether you need answers to your technical questions, or inspiration for your own designs, this is a must have book.

Projects contain errors and are hard to follow, December 6, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Microsoft Publisher 98 by Design (Paperback)
Just completed a college class using this text. Many of the students along with the instructor and myself had a very hard time following the instructions given to complete the projects in the back of the book. However, the text content in the first 18 chapters was very easy to read and understand.

Well Organized, Full of Information, November 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Microsoft Publisher 98 by Design (Paperback)
The material in this book is presented in a logical and easy-to-follow format. Each chapter covers a different topic and is written with clarity. It is worthwhile to read the entire book to have a mastery over Publisher 98, plus the information is organized in such a way that you can easily find what you are looking for if you have a specific question. Since Microsoft is too stingy to supply adequate documentation with their software, this book is most helpful!

This book is very misleading and full of mistakes. After I was done with it, I wanted to burn it.
