4.0 out of 5 stars Useful and handy
This reference card is useful to keep on my desk, although having worked with Publisher since version 97, I'd say that this reference card is more so geared towards the beginner, maybe the intermediate user. Advanced users probably already know 90 % of the information if not all of it.

This reference card is useful to keep on my desk, although having worked with Publisher since version 97, I'd say that this reference card is more so geared towards the beginner, maybe the intermediate user. Advanced users probably already know 90 % of the information if not all of it.

When I bought this guide, I really would have liked to see beforehand what information the card actually contained. To make this easier for others, here is what the guide provides (section headers):

1. Getting Started
- The Publisher Window
- Using the Publisher Tasks Task Pane
- Working with the Getting Started Window
- Creating a Publication
- Creating a new Blank Publication
- Opening an Existing Publication
- Creating an E-Mail Publication
- Creating a Web Site
- Saving a Publication
- Saving a Publication as a Template

2. Publication Extras
- Changing the Publication Type
- Using the Extra Content Pane

3. Text and Text Boxes
- Entering Text
- Inserting Text
- Creating a Text Box
- Moving a Text Box
- Resizing a Text Box
- Rotating a Text Box
- Linking Text Boxes
- Adding Continued Notices

4. Text Formatting
- Using the Formatting Toolbar
- Formatting Paragraph Text
- Using the Format Painter
- Changing the Font Scheme
- Applying a Text Style

5. Text Extras
- Cutting, Copying and Pasting Text
- Using the Office Clipboard
- Creating a Bulleted or Numbered List
- Using Spell Check
- Inserting WordArt

6. Graphics and Objects
- Using the Objects Toolbar
- Inserting Clip Art
- Inserting a Picture from a File
- Inserting an Empty Picture Frame
- Drawing a Shape
- Inserting a Design Gallery Object
- Working with Graphics and Objects
- Working with Layering

7. Color

- Filling an Object with a Scheme Color

8. Tables
- Creating a Table
- Inserting Rows and Columns

9. Page Formatting
- Inserting a Page
- Moving a Page

10. Output
- Using the Design Checker
- Previewing a Publication
- Printing a Publication
- Saving a Publication as a PDF or XPS File
- Using Pack and Go
- Sending a Publication by E-Mail

11. Shortcuts
- Standard Toolbar
- Connect Text Boxes Toolbar
- Formatting Toolbar

12. Getting Help
- Using Publisher Help
- Printing a Help Topic
- Searching for a Help Topic
- Connecting to Microsoft Office Online

As with other such reference guides, it would have been nice if this product were laminated. While the paper is sturdy, I can already see a few dents and bent corners, so a one star deduction for that.

All in all a useful guide though.

I'm a brand new user of MS Publisher. I purchased four books/pubs that I thought would be enough to help me get going on a new key project and new job for me. The first time I used the "QUICK Source" reference card, it screwed me up due to an error! I wanted to create a template from a prior person's document so I followed the instructions at the bottom of page 1 --- "Saving a Publication as a Template". As soon as I entered "SAVE" (as instructed on line 1), I overlayed the document with a newer version of this MS Publisher (2007 overlayed a 2000 version) and I lost the original document. It should have read: "SAVE AS". Now I don't trust the Quick Source card anymore and I think I wasted my money! How about proof reading your own documents?!?! Jim Clayton --- irate user!

I am a new user of Microsoft Publisher 2007 and I have lots to learn, but the Quick Source Guide has been very, very helpful to me...and well worth the price of the guide.

A definite must have for reference and using for teaching new users. Sometimes we all forget simple commands and need a little help.

This does not detail, in easy to understand form, very much for the average computer user. My needs were simple, greeting card design, but this did not really show me how to do what I wanted.
