3.0 out of 5 stars A step back from 2004, but still good
The overall quality is good but.

- There are still many inaccuracies. MicroSoft doesn't really take suggestions very well.

- The GPS interface is buggy to the point of utter worthlessness

- The substitution of Slow/Ave/Fast for the speeds on various road types in lieu of the previous numerical inputs is a BIG step back as far...

I receive my edition of Streets & Trips 2005 this week. I should mention that I've bought all previous versions of Streets & Trips since its debut.

As a Paramedic in Montreal, Canada, since 16 years, I have to say that Streets & Trips as allow me to save at least 7 lives so far in my career, how? : I use it to know every single detail like one way streets, road closure, and new streets in the sector that I'm assigned witch allows me to stay on top of the latest development , IT'S SAVE US TIME TO GET WHERE WE HAVE TO GO WITH PRECISION and Streets & Trips delivers.

ALL my colleagues that use Streets & Trips are saying the same thing, we have tried other software and all of us came to the same conclusions: nothing come even close to it.

I can recall 7 emergencies's called that I manage to get on scene before the Fire department and the Police, 7 of theses emergency's where life threatening and because we where there faster because I knew the road closure and one way's, it has made a difference in our patient condition, a POSITIVE one.

Edition 2005, just like wine, it is only getting better with the years!

I personally recommend this software to ALL peoples; I use it (of course) to plan my regular trips to the U.S. and all over Canada during my holidays.

The only thing that I have yet to understand is the people that complain about this software??? . My only conclusion is the complainer probably just doesn't know how to use the software properly.

Respectfully, Francois, from Montreal Canada.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great software line, September 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Microsoft Streets and Trips 2005 CD [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
I bought this a long time ago. The streets and trips line has been great for me. It doesn't quite replace a standard GPS system, but a standard GPS doesn't replace this either.

I travel for a living and I maintain a map of everywhere I've been. When I return to a specific job site, I like being able to go back and find the hotels I stayed at, restaurants I ate at, ect. I also maintain a list of all of my friends addresses.

I've used older versions of this software and have had minor problems with upgrading. That's the only downside that I've found with this software. You can't download updated maps. You have to buy new software.

2.0 out of 5 stars not useful for the traveler, July 27, 2005

Really disapointed that the new software has no voice directions
when driving MS streets & trips is worthless unless you have a co-pilot. On company trips I cannot use unless I stop every mile to get directions. Graphic are good, MS support are useless and never respond to email
