Although it was refreshing to use a tablet, I often found myself not able to complete tasks or use my favorite programs (such as Google Chrome) because they weren't available on Windows RT. I found no lag when using multiple apps at once, and gaming was nice, but some games had buttons that were to small or lagged when I played games on the internet. Microsoft Office 2013 was a nice addition, as I use that (along with Skydrive) for all my documents and the majority of my online storage. I did find the need to use a mouse quite a bit for things like document editing. I also found that some apps just don’t work, like Flipboard which constantly took multiple attempts to scroll through magazines.

Overall, I was rather happy with my experience with the Surface RT, although I was skeptical of spending $130 on a keyboard (which I found a little ridiculous).

I recommend this tablet to anybody who would uses their PC for light games, web browsing, but not as a primary PC if you use anything like Photoshop because there are no noteworthy apps like it.

I've had this for about eight months now. I don't even touch any of my other tablets. I'm sure I'll leave a lot out because I want to make this short and sweet. Here's my Pros and Cons:

PROS:
Functionality: Beautiful. Microsoft did some things a bit different as far as navigation (which I think is a big risk considering how quick people might give up), but there are reasons, the primary one being, I believe, to leave as much screen available to the app.

Connectivity: Full sized USB, Office, microSD card, micro HDMI, printing (It just asked me if I wanted to print and all my printers and scanner were set up and could immediately print and scan. BAM! I didn't have to do anything! It was easier than any PC I had to set up. Can any other tablets even print at all without getting a root canal?). And much, much more... xbox glass looks really interesting, but I haven't done much with it yet.

Apps (pro and con): The apps that are done right are fantastic. Movies play beautifully on Netflix (assuming good internet, of course), email works great, games great. And of course Office. It actually works right here.

I didn't even get the keyboard which some think is the best feature. I just use a bluetooth keyboard or plug in a regular USB (you can use a splitter if you want mouse and keyboard at the same time).

Safety: Because it is RT the Windows Store apps provide the same security that you get from iPad and Google Play. They are self contained, easily removed, and can't do weird things without asking permission.

IE (this is a pro and con): It comes with IE 11. Chrome isn't on the app store. It won't be unless Google decides to write it for Windows RT. But the browsing experience for what I have seen is hands-down better than any other tablet. It shows everything, plays everything. Flash, silverlight, any kind of video. Anything I've tried. There is a facebook app available which got good ratings, but I didn't even get it because facebook works great in the browser.

CONS:
Battery life could be longer. I guess it is on the newer one (Surface 2).

RT (Pro and Con): You can't load up any old windows software, though that can be a good thing, and you can do a lot more than on other types of tablets. This is really what you want, but it does prevent this from being a full-fledged Windows PC from the past. Once everything is on the Windows Store, though, it could be.

Apps: Kindle works, but it isn't as nice. The Nook app is actually better. This is really not on Microsoft. It's up to to the developer to do a good job, and they view it as competition, apparently. Some others don't do what they do on other devices. It may not be as easy to port the apps to this device, so they may be slow to have the same features, I'm not sure. And there just aren't quite as many apps yet, though it is getting there quickly.

Camera: Just isn't that great on this version. Speakers aren't that great, either, but the connectivity really takes care of that. Who buys a tablet for the speakers (or the camera for that matter)?

Browser: Currently only IE is available, but it works great (see above).

Getting used to the new style of browsing is a bit of a con, but not too bad.

I can't think of much else. It is a touch thicker, but it doesn't seem like it to me in practical use.

I bought the surface to help with doing my schoolwork on the go and it's perfect for the task. The Item came in original packaging and even came with a Microsoft 1 year warranty. It came on time and just as described by the seller. Item was used in excellent condition, but listed as being in only good condition so that was also a plus.

I wanted a tablet that I could actually do some work with. With Word, power point, excel, etch already loaded, I can do everything I need to do. I can print from it, send e-mail attachments, etc with no problems. It also has the USB port so I can use zip drive, key board, etc. I tried to work with word documents with my Galaxy but couldn't find an app that worked for me.
Love it!!

A tablet and a laptop in one, I like it better than my iPad that is a toy compared to the Surface. It took me a couple of days to get familiar with the RT system but after that everything is going nice, fast and easy, I would say the Surface is a real portable computer. what I like best is that this device has a USB port that I find very useful and convenient, I would recommend this product to anybody who is looking for a good tablet at a reasonable price.

Better than ipad by far because of its ease of doing multiple things at once. I use it for college and record the lectures while taking notes on the powerpoint and being on facebook if I want all at once. The screen is great size, very thin, and fanrastic display for movie watching. This is the tablet everyone should try before spending a ridiculous amount of money on the ipad. I got mine refurbished from microsoft and I got last years version that updated to the new version. I paid 220 for my surface. Again no cons of this tablet!

This was a gift for my grandson and he loves it. His spelling and math have both improved since receiving it.
