I bought this mouse because it was less expensive than the Logitech m305 (not on sale $40, but wait for it to go on sale for $25 at Best Buy). It feels about the same, a little lower (flatter). However, if you're used to having the scroll wheel "click" with detents, don't buy this - you'll be annoyed by the smooth rolling of the wheel with no detents. And, like many others here, mine failed after four wheels because of the now-common receiver short-circuit problem where the nano piece gets overheated, and the mouse stops working - this is a non-recoverable problem.

I've had it for two weeks, and here's what I think:

- Scroll wheel: my main complaint is, it is smooth scrolling. Unsuitable for situations where incremental scrolling is required, such as flipping pages or going through moves in a chess game, etc. Also, the click button of the wheel is too hard to push.
- The side button is awkwardly positioned, not at all comfortable, not easily accessible.
- The main two right/left buttons are actually nice and smooth. They have a distinctly softened click feel, and none of the loud clicking noise of practically any other mouse on the market, that irritates me a great deal. [I actually modified several Logitech and Dell mice to get rid of the click (easy operation, you can find instructions online), but people who are not used to clickless mouse find it almost impossible to operate.]
- Tracking is excellent, far better than any other mouse I have ever tried.
- Grip is not good, side material feels like rubber, I find it slippery (my fingers do have a tendency to sweat, others may find the grip acceptable).
- It is too heavy, powered by AA battery. I am used to wired mice, which are much lighter.
- No problems with transmitter overheating. I have a cool-running Lenovo laptop, but I can imagine my wife's HP could cause it to overheat because the laptop itself gets so hot that it cannot be held in the lap for more than a few minutes. I also suspect people complaining about transmitter overheating use it with a desktop, which causes transmitter to consume more power due to having to transmit over a longer distance. I suspect this may cause it to overheat, but this is just my speculation.
- Looks ok.

Bottom line: I cannot recommend this mouse.

Best mouse for me! I like the scroll and the thumb button, they make navigating web pages and docs a breeze. I have had two of these because I gave one away because my mother in law liked it so much, the second I have had this one for a year now with no issues. I've tried other mice and this is the only one I'll use.

{update about a year and a half later} the USB plug in got hot one day and that was it for the mouse. that was about 3 months ago. according to online forums that happens occasionally. i just went and got the same exact model of mouse and I'm back in business! still the best mouse for web tarffic and doc navigation. sometimes things go bad, not a QA issue, these things just happen.

I used one of these mice daily with my Windows 7 netbook PC and loved it. When I finally got a Mac Mini desktop computer with the Apple Aluminum keyboard I plugged the wireless mouse into it. That keyboard has two USB hubs built-in and tucked out of the way. The small wireless receiver fits into one of the keyboard hubs perfectly and is entirely hidden out of sight. It works very well that way and plays well with Mac OS X Lion. Between the netbook and the Mac Mini my wireless mobile mouse 4000 has been in daily use for over 10 months and the only maintenance was the one time I had to replace its AA battery. I like it so well I just bought a second one for the netbook.

This mouse is about 95% perfect. Really! The 5% that I don't like is when I use the mouse on my recliner armrest (which is made of cloth) without a mouse pad the on/off button snags along the cloth from time to time. But that's no big deal.

The mouse is sensitive to use which I love and although many people reviewing this product are saying the receiver gets hot and then is ruined. I have had this mouse for a month or so and have not experienced this problem. I almost didn't buy this mouse based on the reviews about the overheated receivers but I did and I'm glad I did!!

Item is working as expected. Delivery was on time and I couldn't be happier with the personalized color. It makes working or playing on the laptop a little more relaxed having your favorite color in your hand.

Loved this mouse out of the box, but wanted to wait to ensure that there were no problems after one month of use. I have fairly large hands (for a woman, that is) and the size and weight of this device is perfectly comfortable. It works over wood grain and glass surfaces as advertised. Goodbye mouse pads with their attendant germs. I do turn off the mouse when not in use and I have no complaints. Love it!

I had a bluetooth mouse for my hard core workstation and the bluetooth kept dropping off. I had considered wireless, but the old wireless mouses with the receiver weren't much better. I have some older wireless Microsoft mouses as well, but they had the large dongles and you had to replace the dongle into back of the mouse to turn it off to save battery. The dongle was in the back of the computer (front panel USB tend to be power on all the time, whereas, the rear ones have power save options and will go to 'sleep' if there is no signal after a period of time), so it was incovenient to unplug and plug every time. They finally came out with the mini receiver and a power button for the newer wireless product line, so I bought one for a work area where I might be working on a laptop or using my personal laptop and it worked seemlessly. I proceeded to then get one for my wife for her laptop and she loved it, so I got one for my desktop to replace my old bluetooth version. I now have 4 total and have sold at least another dozen to my customers (I have been an IT consultant for about 13 years).

At first, I was a bit concerned with the size of the mouse. I used to like the larger mouses (they are called mouses, not mice) because I thought they were more comfortable in my hand, but have found the way these are designed, I don't notice that they are about 25% smaller, so that was another plus.

Pros:

* Small enough to throw in a bag for travel, big enough for use as a full time mouse.
* Battery life is pretty decent. I keep it on all the time unless I am out of town for several days (and even forget then) and the batteries last several months at a time.
* Uses the new laser that will work on any surface.
