5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful for PC gaming or xbox parties June 21, 2011
By The_JoE
Color Name:Black| Edition:Wired|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
PROS:
Wired xbox360 controllers work well with windows7 right away and the driver for XP isn't hard to find.
No need to worry about relinking your controller when you go from xbox to xbox; just plug it in and you are good to go!
No need to charge or replace your batteries before you can play.
Most PC shooters made after the 360 have plug and play support for the 360 controller (in my experience). I've used mine for L4D, L4D2, and portal2 recently and I only needed to plug in the controller before launching the game for it to work.

CONS:
Cords are so 90s.
Since the two triggers aren't actually buttons a lot of older games can't map them as 'fire' buttons. This means that if you do any emulation or DOS gaming you will want to do research before buying this controller for them since you may not be able to use it in the way you hope.

Please note that if you want to use a 360 controller for PC gaming you CAN'T just use a 360 wireless controller and plug in a charge kit USB to your computer. The charge cord only provides power across USB; it doesn't communicate with the computer that way. If you want to use a 360 controller with your PC you need to buy this OR a wireless one that specifically comes with a plug for the computer.
I hope this review is helpful for any potential buyers.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm wired October 7, 2010
Color Name:Black| Edition:Wired|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The Xbox 360 controller is one of the greatest controllers ever designed, at least in terms of comfort, aesthetic appeal, sturdiness and whatnot. The only flaw is that the wireless version takes two AA batteries and they only last a few hours. Being wireless is novel for a while, but eventually the constant replacement of dead batteries got on my nerves. I have a serious aversion to 3rd party peripherals and rechargeable batteries in general, so a rechargeable powerpack was not an option for me. I solved the issue by getting a wired controller. It's even more comfortable; it's lighter, and there's no battery pack in the way of my finger tips. I love it, I'll never go back to wireless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best PC gamepad out there August 17, 2011
Color Name:Black| Edition:Wired|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The XBOX 360 wired controller is the best PC game controller out there. Many games available on the PC translate very well to a controller format since it's pretty common to see ports between the various platforms these days. It works just like it would on an XBOX and Windows 7 automatically recognizes and configures the controller for you. No complaints at all. I have two that I use frequently for gaming on the PC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Standard PC peripheral November 4, 2012
By Ray
Color Name:Black| Edition:Wired|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
.:: Background ::.
I purchased a wired, black 360 controller in March, 2012 (about seven months ago). I've been using it to play both 360 and PC games.

Standard 360 controllers are, in my opinion, the most comfortable gamepads in the market, past or present. I've been using this particular pad primarily to play games which either are unwieldy to play without a pad (emulators, action games, etc.) or do not have proper mouse support (e.g. the original Dead Space). What I wouldn't recommend this (or any gamepad) for are first-person shooters; they're far too limited and imprecise for that. Essentially, what gamepads do well is movement, which often benefits from analog input.

Keep in mind that using a wireless 360 pad with a receiver for your PC comes with various response and recognition issues; if you're buying a 360 controller for your PC, a wired controller does the job without the hassle.

In the past, PC gamers use to collect peripherals for all kinds of games (flight sticks and steering wheels for simulators, for example). For some reason, there has recently been an increase in the population of gamers who dislike peripherals. However, in my opinion, a 360 controller should be standard equipment for any PC gamer. I can't recommend it enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great January 5, 2014
Color Name:Black| Edition:Wired|Verified Purchase
[Good]

Durable: It lasts for years without any issues.

Ergonomic: This is the best game controller for comfort.

Wired: you don't have to worry about batteries.

Compatible for PC: This is great for PC with Steam games.

[Bad]

Wired: you have the inconvenience of dealing with a wire.

[Verdict]

I never fully appreciated how durable and ergonomic this controller was until I bought a 3rd party controller from Razer. Lesson: never buy a 3rd party controller.

If you want controller and you're playing games on either Xbox 360 or PC, there's nothing better.

5.0 out of 5 stars XBOX 360 Wired Controller for PC December 12, 2013
Color Name:Black| Edition:Wired|Verified Purchase
It works! It works! It works!

All I did was plug it in to my PC and the driver installed automatically. I use a WIN 7 64-bit operating system. I had tried some wireless gizmo, but that was an epic fail. This controller works and now allows me to play Steam controller supported games on my PC!

I am very happy now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Windows 8 Users just PLUG & PLAY! January 28, 2014
Color Name:Black| Edition:Wired|Verified Purchase
As soon as I received this controller I straight up just plugged it in and the driver for it was automatically downloaded. Started up Metal Gear Revengence and every button on it worked. To be honest though I'm fairly new to PC gaming so the only games I have right now are also on consoles. Bioshock Infinte, Skyrim, Tomb Raider, Dead Space 2, L4D2, Minecraft, and FEZ. All games mentioned have given me no problem with the controller. If you're looking for a great PC controller at a reasonable price then I would recommend you go with this one. Remember it's only the wired version that works for PC. Not the one with the playNcharge kit.

Exactly what I expected - works great! It's a little pricey for what I think a controller should be but this is one of those things that you get what you pay for.
