5.0 out of 5 stars Great bag!
I have been perpetually window-shopping for a new diaper bag since my original Gap diaper bag 2 years ago (too big and too slouchy), and this is IT (almost). I've always liked the 'black bag' look (all my purses and accessories are black, why shouldn't my diaper bag match?), but am always finding one that's too big, too little, etc. I was intrigued by this one, but...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but not great either....
I bought this bag because I thought it looked like I could use it as a purse but it was also my diaper bag. Unfortunately on the 3 occasions that I've tried to use it I've found that will not hold everything that I need for it to hold and it doesn't hold Avent bottles very well. It's cute but I think I'm better off with the free bag that I got from the hospital! I will...

I was intrigued by this one, but wanted to know more about it first, so I promptly went to BabiesRUs to look at it. No dice. I looked on the internet for more information about it, and again, no dice. I emailed Kalencom's customer support, and still nothing. So I bought the darn thing sight-unseen and couldn't be happier. For those like me who already have a bag thats too big, too little, too slouchy, too cutesy, wrong fabric, etc, here's the details... Its 15 x 11.5 x 5inches measured at the base. Made of leather-look material ("PVC, made in China" says the tag). There's the small outside pocket pictured on the side, but the other side has 2 nice deep slot pockets too. There's white contrast stitching, and burgundy lining (its darker in real-life than pictured). There's the changing pad and cell phone holder (pictured), but there's also an attached clear bag inside. What else... Inside are 2 mesh diaper pockets. This bag is SO roomy! I've got a few diapers and wipes, a sippy and some snacks, my keys and wallet, and still have room for a boatload of toys and books. Hope this helps.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Mommy Chic!, June 1, 2003

I bought this bag because I was tired of carrying a purse AND a diaper bag. This bag is great because it can function as both. I love the cell phone holder and the outside pocket for my car keys. The bag is very functional and doesn't look like a cheesy diaper bag! I have 2 kids so it's plenty big enough to carry what I need without it being a huge mess inside. I don't have to remove items to find what I am looking for. And I love that it looks like a nice designer bag instead of a typical diaper bag.

I have been using this diaper bag for my daughter, and it works wonderfully for us.

What I like:
- I no longer carry a purse, so this is the only bag I need. No more lugging around different bags.
- Changing pad is fine, and is not connected to the bag so it is easy to pull out.
- Our bottles fit in the side pockets
- I prefer the roomy inside rather than a ton of divided pockets. I can fit a change of clothes, receiving blanket, spare bottle & formula, breastpump (for trips), 5 or 6 diapers, changing pad, wipes, toys, snacks for me, and still have room left!
- Vinyl/"leather" is easy to wipe off, unlike some fabrics. We have already had to wash our Eddie Bauer bag (my husband's) when our daughter had an blowout on the changing table that hit the bag as it was sitting on the floor. It was not easy to clean, but this bag would have been.
- Love the cell phone holder - this is what makes it easy for me to use as a purse also. No digging around inside when the phone rings.
- Great style!

The only change I would make to the bag is for one of the outer pockets to have a zipper. Since I use this bag as my purse, it would be nice if the pocket where I put my wallet and keys had a zipper. Since the pockets are deep, it still works ok, but would make me feel more secure if I could zip it closed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best diaper bag I've found!, April 3, 2004
This review is from: Mid City Tote - Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
I admit I was a little disappointed when I received this bag~ the picture shows it to be a very square-shaped bag than it actually is and I'm pretty picky about my bag. ;) However, I have to say I love this thing! The material is very nice~ looks like leather, the inside seems very durable, and this bag is very comfortable to carry. The maroon lining inside helps to easily find what you're looking for (dark linings can make it hard to find things). I LOVE the outside pockets~ having my keys right there is so convenient~ no more searching at the bottom of the bag. The other outside pockets are great for things you need close at hand, like binkies or lipstick. The changing pad doesn't take up a lot of room and is the perfect size~ big enough for my toddler. There is a ton of room in this bag, but it doesn't look 'huge' and as I mentioned it is very comfortable and the straps do not slide off.

I only have 2 minor complaints~ first, the side pockets that are meant to hold bottles are not quite wide enough to hold sippy cups~ I can force them in there, though. Second, the plastic bag inside for dirty duds does not have a zipper closure. These are minor things, though, and I still highly recommend this.

This is the fourth diaper bag I've had and it meets all my needs~ comfortable, plenty of room but doesn't look like a suitcase, stylish (people think it's a purse!), and well made. I'm very picky about what bag I carry and I highly recommend this! :)

This review is from: Mid City Tote - Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
I just received this bag....if you can still get it, I highly recommend it. It was out of stock for awhile. I then contacted the Kalencom Corp directly and was told it was no longer made but is still available in some Babies R Us stores. In any case, Amazon e-mailed me when it was available again. So, don't wait too long if you are thinking of getting this bag.

The bag is very stylish looking! Nobody would think it was a diaper bag and yet it has so many good sized compartments on the outside. You cannot tell from the picture but each end of the diaper bag has a bottle/sippy cup holder. The side that is shown in the picture has a little pocket. The other side that is not shown, has 2 large pockets. Great for accessabilty. The inside has two large pouches that are perfect for holding diapers. Holds up to 6 diapers and cream comfortably. The change pad included is good and doesn't take up much room in the bag. There is also a clear bag for storing snacks or whatever you'd like. The rest of the bag's interior is just open. I would have liked a zipper pocket on the inside but it will still suit my needs without. Oh, and anyone would look at this bag and think it was leather. It is really nice and looks easy to wipe down.

I highly recommend it. I havent' seen any this nice in the stores.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great all-around bag, February 22, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Mid City Tote - Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
I have used a Kate Spade knock-off diaper bag for the past year, but recently spilled milk in it and had to throw it out. I was so upset and sure that I would not find a bag I liked as much. I found this bag at Babies R Us and have really loved it! In fact, I like it better than my previous bag. It looks more like a purse than a diaper bag (one of the things I loved about my previous bag), and I imagine I will be able to use it long after I finish hauling diapers around.

The inside has just the right amount of different compartments, and the red lining really helps you find things inside. I like that the outside of the bag holds a sippy cup or bottle upright (and is easily accessible for your two year old who can't decide if she wants it or not). The outside pockets are especially perfect for your cellphone and keys and prevent you having to root around in the bottom of the bag. The straps are also a good length- the bag stays on your shoulder even when you're carting a baby on your hip. The changing pad is standard size and width and cleans easily.

I'm not a mom who carries a million things with me, and the bag is collapsable enough hold the bare basics without looking silly. But it definitely has room for lots more. I would highly recommend this bag for moms who are looking for a stylish yet functional diaper bag.

4.0 out of 5 stars good bag overall, December 16, 2004
This review is from: Mid City Tote - Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
I just bought this bag and being particularly picky about my bags, I pretty much like this one. For the moms (or dads) who don't like the baby-themed bags, this is great. Looks like real leather, the white stitching looks nice, not cheap. The bag is roomy on the inside, which was one of my main concerns. I have a toddler and a baby and need enough room for diapers, wipes, clothes for both toys, etc. and this bag can fit it all. The straps are long enough to get all the way up on your shoulder without falling down. The only thing I do NOT like about it is the zipper does not close the bag entirely. There is a one inch or so opening on either side of the zipper, so potentially a small item could fall out if the bag got flipped upside down. Otherwise I would have given it a 5/5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!!, May 23, 2004
This review is from: Mid City Tote - Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
I love this bag. I have easily purchased at least 20 diaper bags if not more and this is the best I have seen. It is fashionable which is a big deal to me, I hate the bunnies and bears type diaper bags, and it is also really roomy. I have 2 toddlers and a baby and I can fit 2 sippy cups, snacks, plenty of diapers, a change for baby and my wallet and sunglasses and the bag still isn't overloaded. Another nice thing is that it isn't a huge bag to look at but it does have lots of space inside. I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bag, May 29, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Mid City Tote - Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
This diaper bag was a great purchase! As a first time mommy, I was quite unsure of everything that I would need to carry with me, so obviously I overdid it. It all fits in this roomy bag, with room for even 2 receiving blankets and an extra change of clothes for baby, plus the necessary diapers, wipes, toys, books, wallet, keys, etc. I get compliments all the time; people can't believe its a diaper bag.

This was a great purchase - the quality for the price is outstanding. I'm thrilled with this bag - it will get much use in the years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice bag - HUGE, January 7, 2005
This review is from: Mid City Tote - Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
This is a nice bag. It is ENORMOUS. It holds everything I could ever think of taking for the baby. Due to it's size, I usually just keep this one in the car and use a smaller one to carry into places. Bag is nice quality and doesn't have that "cutesy" look. My husband has no problem carrying it either.
