My 100-lb. German Shepherd managed to crack the original pan (plastic liner of his metal cage/crate). The MidWest Replacement seems more durable than the original "pan" of a different brand. The Amazon.com price seemed reasonable after I compared prices with several sources of this item. The pan has not suffered any damage but to eliminate that possibility, I cut a piece of corrugaged cardboard slightly smaller than the "pan" to provide a slight cushion between the bottom of the "pan" and the top of the metal wires coming into contact with the pan in the bottom of his cage. Recommend anyone who buys this item to put cardboard underneath the pan to reduce the pressure when one's dog plops down in his/her cage. Bought this item about one year ago already and it is holding up well....It is now February 2009 and the 'pan' is still holding up well with the thick cardboard underneath (You can use part of the shipping box for this item and cut it for use under the 'pan'). I still have the same German Shepherd who loves his cage.

I looked all over the place trying to find a crate tray replacement (my lab puppy decided that he wanted to use the one that came with the crate as a chew toy). I went to Petsmart (where I bought the crate) and they wanted $60 for a replacement. I found this one on Amazon and chose the free shipping and received it in about 3 days. I am happy because I saved $30 and my lab is happy because he has a new tray...that hopefully he won't chew to pieces.

If your are going to advertise a size make sure that it actually is that size. The width was correct, but the length is only 40.5". The old crate pan is 42", the cage itself is 42". Id love to know the logic behind saying its 42" and it actually being 40.5" Now I have to either pay to ship it back or keep it as is....

Question
For those who bought this item, is this 42 by 21 inches or 42 by 28 inches??? I don't understand why that isn't part of the description.

This was a replacement for the original. My Boxer girl is much larger now and she has yet to crack this tray like she did the original that accompanied her ASPCA crate. Read more

SAVE YOUR MONEY
I hate wasting money. This is just junk. Whatever happened to metal trays in dog crates? My puppy had this plastic "replacement" tray broken in 2 weeks and could have easily gotten... Read more

Good Value
Better quality plastic than the original. Good value. I followed the recommendation of others and added the cardboard under the replacement pan for cushioning.

The description says MidWest replacement, but the packaging was GoGo replacement crate. The measurements are accurate and the pan fit. Read more
