My 100-lb. German Shepherd managed to crack the original pan (plastic liner of his metal cage/crate). The MidWest Replacement seems more durable than the original "pan" of a different brand. The Amazon.com price seemed reasonable after I compared prices with several sources of this item. The pan has not suffered any damage but to eliminate that possibility, I cut a piece of corrugaged cardboard slightly smaller than the "pan" to provide a slight cushion between the bottom of the "pan" and the top of the metal wires coming into contact with the pan in the bottom of his cage. Recommend anyone who buys this item to put cardboard underneath the pan to reduce the pressure when one's dog plops down in his/her cage. Bought this item about one year ago already and it is holding up well....It is now February 2009 and the 'pan' is still holding up well with the thick cardboard underneath (You can use part of the shipping box for this item and cut it for use under the 'pan'). I still have the same German Shepherd who loves his cage.

Be sure to do as others have recommended and use part of the box to absorb the space between the pan and the floor of the crate. Sure wish I'd read that advice the first time I replaced the pan.

Although I bought this replacement pan for a MidWest Life Stages crate, the pan is about 2" too narrow! Perfect length, but my big dog needs the width because she likes to curl up sideways. Her paws can get in between the sides of the pan and the crate with this replacement pan, so it is a no-go for us. You'd think if you were matching the brand name the fit would be better. Disappointing, because it seems nice and sturdy.

The product is as described. Hopefully it will last for a few years!! It is the exact replica of the one that I was replacing.

If your are going to advertise a size make sure that it actually is that size. The width was correct, but the length is only 40.5". The old crate pan is 42", the cage itself is 42". Id love to know the logic behind saying its 42" and it actually being 40.5" Now I have to either pay to ship it back or keep it as is....

I looked all over the place trying to find a crate tray replacement (my lab puppy decided that he wanted to use the one that came with the crate as a chew toy). I went to Petsmart (where I bought the crate) and they wanted $60 for a replacement. I found this one on Amazon and chose the free shipping and received it in about 3 days. I am happy because I saved $30 and my lab is happy because he has a new tray...that hopefully he won't chew to pieces.

Product is good. Feels sturdier than original tray provided. Would recommend putting cardboard underneath for padding to minimize risk of cracking against metal crate frame.

This crate pan is solid and serves its purpose. Arrived as promised and well packaged. Highly recommend. It's size is at described and fits the crate exactly.

I worried at first because the box was so battered and torn. The new pan is thinner and more flexible than the original one so it was just fine. The original one had a rough bumpy surface and this one is very smooth. The first time our dog ran in there she went sliding all over the place!She has adjusted well to it and I am hoping that the flexible surface will not crack like the old one.

This size crate pan makes a great house breaking tool for small dogs. I line them with newspapers and piddle pads and puppies as well as the adults use them.
Also the pans protect against order build up and very easy to keep clean.
They are outstanding.
