This book was required for a class I was taking to add 4/5th grades to my early childhood teaching license. It is a great book for any teacher or parent of 4-8th grade students. This books really helps the reader understand how important the social aspects of that age are and how secondary the academics are if the student is struggling socially. Highly recommend.

I needed this book for class and it came exactly as specified by the seller. The book was brand new, still in packaging. It is an interesting book with great ideas for potential middle school teachers.

Great book for those beginning to teach middle school and good refresher for those who've been at it a while.

I have owned this book for two years now and may have referred back to it twice over the years. It's one of those books that you just can't part with because you use it "occasionally." I purchased it for my middle school practicum class and we barely read it. Later, I went back and finished the parts we skipped and found them only marginally helpful. Since taking this class I've seen and read several middle school books that were much better.

All things considered, I would buy this book after reading other - more highly recommended - middle school books. Then you will be able to pick and choose the chapters you want to read from this one and keep it on your shelf. It's not a book I would read cover to cover.
