This review is from: Middle-earth Minstrel: Essays on Music in Tolkien (Paperback)
I have to say I was disappointed in this book; it was not what I expected. I assumed it would be about the music in the books, the songs sung by the characters, etc. It turned out to be mostly different people talking about linquistics and types of music, only occasionally touching on the music of Tolkien. There were a few articles near the end I liked and seemed to have something to do with Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.Overall somewhat interesting, but not what I had expected nor wanted. If I had had a change to review before I purchased, I would not have bought it, especially since it was $38. |
