Wonderful, Interesting Book!,

This review is from: The Middleburg Mystique: A Peek Inside the Gates of Middleburg Virginia (Capital Hometown Guides) (Hardcover)
As someone who attended Foxcroft School, a high school on the fringes of Middleburg and mentioned in the book, I can say that I know a great deal about Middleburg, VA, an enclave for artists, writers, the wealthy elite, and the horse obsessed. This book still managed to surprise me with its intriguing insights into the relationship between a town and its residents and the characteristics that make a town an elite enclave.Vicky Moon's wonderful writing style allows you to picture this beautiful little town and its residents clearly and truthfully. The book makes you want to go visit Middleburg!

This review is from: Middleburg Mystique: A Peek Inside the Gates of Middleburg, Virginia (Capital Hometown Guides) (Paperback)
MIDDLEBURG MYSTIQUE is a book that helps to continue the idea that Middleburg is the magic town for the rich, famous, and those who want to be seen with the rich and famous. I live about 20 miles away from Middleburg, and it is a great place to go for lunch or dinner. The town is charming and historic and it's always fun to browse the antique shops.Vicky Moon did a good job in writing about Middleburg. Her style is pleasant and she provides a lot of detailed information. I'm sure that the long time residents of the town had a few laughs over some of the outrageous behavior that's mentioned in the book. I think that adding the section called, Hunting Terms was a good idea. For those of us who are not familiar with fox hunting or equestrian activity, it was nice to have those terms explained. The author tells lots of stories and antidotes and with the exception of some of the nationally known residents like the Kennedy's, I really didn't know much about the families or "old guard" who live in the Middleburg area. I found the book to be very enlightening.

As a recent "come-here" to the Virginia Hunt Country, I found The Middleburg Mystique fascinating, entertaining, and even enlightening. Thank God I read it, because some of its real-life characters are now my clients. It was good to have some insight! And for those interested in the lifestyles and history of the Virginia horsey set, it's a must-read!
