Editorial Reviews

"Not only is everything presented in a reader-friendly, easy to understand style, it manages to cover just about every aspect of creating a modified Midget. A worthwhile investment." – Classic Car Mart

MG Enthusiast, December 2008
UK magazine

This definitive tuning book on building a fast Midget for either road or track has been completely revised, updated and enlarged for its third edition. It covers every aspect of the car from the radiator to the tail pipe, from the rollover bar to the tires’ contact patches. Although the A-series cars get the lion’s share of the book (they are, after all, most commonly tuned and raced), the 1500 engine is not forgotten and owners of the rubber-bumper cars will also find much food for thought.  All of the major mechanical areas are dealt with in their own chapters, and there are also chapters on bodywork, development and testing, and preparation for motorsport. It is worth making the point, though that while the ultimate destination of each section is competition, they build up to this in stages and the book contains plenty of useful advice for those who are more focused on the road and perhaps thinking of just adding an extra instrument or an overdrive gearbox.

Review from Classics Monthly, March 2009
UK magazine

Now in an updated and enlarged third version, this book, as with the others in the SpeedPro Series, is the closest you can get to having an expert standing beside you in the garage. Chapters take you through engine, brake, and suspension modifications, so by the end you'll have an in-depth understanding of how to upgrade the entire car. Sensibly written in plain English with clear full-color images of everything you need to see. The book also contains unique information on the Triumph 1500 and 1275 inline engines, and a useful chapter on body modifications and the aftermarket panels available. If you're in need of such advice, you'll never regret getting a copy of this book.

"With 400 mainly color photos and exclusive tuning advice, this is a MUST for any Sprite or Midget owner. It is well presented with a balanced view, a really enjoyable reference book that will be worth its weight in gold ..." – Minor Monthly

"This popular and useful book, has now been re-issued in an enlarged and updated third, and is a must for any Midget or Austin-Healey Sprite owner interested in extracting a little, or even a lot, of extra performance from this fun classic." – MG Car Club of New Zealand

"If you run a Midget or Sprite, this book is going to become your best friend. a deceptively compact softback, it contains everything you could possibly want to know about improving a Spridget, in great detail yet very clearly presented, with color throughout." – Octane

Daniel Stapleton's "The MG Midget & Austin Healey Sprite Hight Performance Manual" presents practical information for the MG / Sprite owner interested in getting the best out of the car. The performance enhancing tips explain opportunities, tradeoffs and risks. The book pays for itself very quickly. Many "performance enhancing products" would cost 100x the price of the book. I only wish that sometimes the author would stand behind me as I work on my Sprite and share his wisdom. I am glad that I purchased the book.

The book is an update on the previously published editions. Still not enough info on the post '74 RB 1500 cars, but there is more info than before. Is primarily geared to a UK reader, but much is also applicable to US owners as well.

Book was hyped as an all new edition, but was just a rehash of his other editions. older editions actually have more help and ideas
