4.0 out of 5 stars A solid breaks release from General Midi
This has been out for a while now, but I'll write the review anyway.

General Midi is one of better new school breaks producers out there and some of the tunes on this CD have made it onto some popular DJ compilations. "Rock This Place" appears to be a reworked version of "Bassrockas" that appears on the Y4K-Uberzone release. I've heard "Good To Go" and "Never...

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent but not great
There are a couple of solid tracks on this but overall it is not too cohesive. It jumps styles and feels a little weak at times. My two favorite tracks are "Never Gonna Stop the Show" and "The Westerner".

I've heard "Good To Go" and "Never Gonna Stop The Show" in other mix compilations.

This is a good CD for DJs, since there is no mixing. Each cut is presented in its entirety.

There are a couple throwaway cuts, but most of them are excellent grooves with a variety of BPM. If I were still spinning, a few of these would be in my rotation- especially "The Westerner". I'm a sucker for Clint Eastwood and gunshot samples. "Statement of Intent" is really good, and hasn't been picked up by any of the big name mix compilations as far as I know.

Most of the good cuts are in the 130-135 BPM range, but "A Recording" is a good cut that's down around 110 if you need to slow things down a little.

All in all a good CD.
