The 75-440 has two watts of power offering up to a five mile range. With twenty-three channels, along with 104 digital and fifty CTCSS sub-codes, you have a good chance of having a private conversation. The radio meets military standards for shock, vibration and water resistance. Other notable features include: key lock, removable antenna, speaker/mic jacks and a back-lit LCD screen. The radio comes with a charger and a rechargeable battery pack. Remember that you'll need a FCC license to operate this powerful radio.

We have purchased Motorola, Kenwood and now like the Midland 75-440 best. Best channel selection, call feature.

This radio sounds good at first, but you will need to get an FCC license to operate this radio legally. Most people in the "FRS" market really don't need the extra power, cost and hassle of GMRS. So I'd label this radio "don't try this at home", unless you are a serious GMRS user.
