These 2-way radios come with the convenience of both GMRS and FRS channels. They feature a total of 22 GMRS/FRS channels with up to a seven mile range. The backlit LCD display offers easy reading in low-light conditions. The G-223 radios also feature a key lock to prevent accidental channel changes, and a vibrating call alert. With 38 CTCSS codes and 83 DCS codes allow for private communicating. The high/low power switch will save battery power. The G-223 operates on three AAA batteries. Remember that you'll need a FCC license to operate these powerful radios.

I recently purchased this set of radios. I applied for the FCC GMRS license paid [the money] and was excited about using the GMRS channels with 5 mile range. After receiving my call sign I tested them out on both power settings on the gmrs channels and the most range I ever got was 1200ft!!!! These radios are no better than a [toy] walkie talkie...
