For those of you who don't want to spend $150 or more to get the Midnight Blue album, I just found out through her website at http://www.louisetucker.co.uk/ that she is re-releasing Midnight Blue and a subsequent album, After The Storm, on CD for the equivalent of $32 each.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Recording Ever!, January 23, 2007
Why Louise Tucker is not a household name amazes me. I get chills every time I hear Midnight Blue.

5.0 out of 5 stars Midnight Blue, January 5, 2007
I bought this album when it first came out in the early eighties, or thereabouts. Few vocalists rise to Louise Tucker's superbly beautiful renditions of lyrics set to classical standards. (Allison Moyet may be added to this category of superb vocalists as well.) Personal favorites include title cut, Only for You, Waiting for Hugo. I practically worn through the grooves on two albums, and will now likely purchase the re-released project on cd. Much good here. Any money spent on this singer is well spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, October 17, 2006
One of the greatest albums you can ever listien to. Every track is terrefic. Do not pay 119 dollars for it though! I went to her website and paid about 30 bucks for it. On top of that, she autographed it for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most under-rated album of the 80's., April 12, 2003

I can't add anything that other reviewers haven't said already. But as much as I love the music on this record I can't justify spending $170.00! Who are they trying to fool? If anyone has a copy in mint condition that they would be willing to part with, I'd pay up to 25 American dollars. My vinyl album is so worn it won't play anymore! I really miss her voice. Too bad she never did anything else. Or did she? Anyone with information regarding her discography should feel free to e-mail me.

This is one of the greatest recordings ever made. I have the old LP, but wish there was a cheaper CD available. This in also on an instumental by Caravelli, which is very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars timeless, April 19, 2004
By scott durgin (RI, United States) - See all my reviews
i also fell in love with the title track in the late eighties. i was able to secure a taped copy from WJIB in Boston at the time, and i also was able to get the orchestral version (no vocals) which is hauntingly beautiful in its own right.

tape has long been worn out

i would be eternally grateful to anyone who knows the artist that performed the orchestral version. please let me know

5.0 out of 5 stars the voice of God, January 1, 2004

Louise Tucker is now selling both her records on CD at her web site. Search for it, you'll be glad you did. After The Storm has never been available on CD before now. You simply MUST own BOTH of these records! Really, I insist. Go now...I'll wait right here. And please feel free to drop me a line if you'd like more info on Ms. Tucker!

5.0 out of 5 stars My all time favorot album., July 21, 2000
By seeker "tink-im" (cincinnati, ohio United States) - See all my reviews
I first got this album on Vinyl. My brother bought it for me becuase it was a favorot of his, then I bought the C.D. and my 30 year old Nephew borrowed it from me, and I havn't gotten it back. So I'm getting my third. This music endures. It is of such quality that the music haunts and delights at the same time. I can't believe I havn't found her other albums. I would buy anything put out by this artist. Such an elegant combination of a Opera Voice, with funk beat, and fun arrangements mixed with classical. I highly recommend it to anyone. Thanks :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Vocal & Musical Masterpiece + Airplay on XM radio, August 22, 2006
This is a wonderful mix of a classic tune with a newly classic vocal by the "Enya-like" Louise Tucker. I am suprised that some record producer hasn't tapped Louise to make an "Enya-styled" album with her fabulous voice. This song had a lot of airplay in the Detroit/Toledo radio market in 1983, but only bubbled around #45 in the Hot100 charts. BUT, there is MORE - there is a WONDERFUL INSTRUMENTAL VERSION of this song played on XM RADIO CHANNEL 78 (Escape) by Caravelli called "Midnight Blue Theme". I also urge people to email XM radio "Fine Tuning" Channel 76 and ask them to play the original "Midnight Blue" by Louise Tucker - as that is someplace where her song should be played! In the meantime, we'll listen to XM channel 78 & 76 and hope that Arista records will someday re-release this wonderful collection on CD again!
