Music, the night, and y'all, April 26, 1999

This review is from: Midnight Blue (Audio CD)
If you play this CD during your next dangerous liason, and it doesn't improve your seduction techniques by 40%, you should have your wiring checked, something ain't right witcha. This is the real thing, smooth jazz by some of the greats of the 50s and 60s. In terms of smooth, it's got it all. Sax, horns, strings, even vocals by the likes of Nat "King" Cole. Get hep, Daddy-o, all you cool cats and swinging chicks just light a few candles, pour some libations, hit the play button and start sweeping each other off your feet. As Maria Muldaur says, "It ain't the meat, it's the motion". So get moving.

This is one of the greatest finds you will ever find! Ike Quebec's "Ill Wind" is a masterpiece, Duke Pearson's "After the Rain" is absolutely beautiful. Johnny Hartman, Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young, Nat King Cole, Dexter Gordon and Stanley Turrentine are at thier finest and a fantastic renditon of "You Don't Know What Love Is" by Cassandra Wilson will blow you socks off. This is one of those desert island discs at a price that is unbelievable. If you are a fan of great sound and laid back blues, buy this cd! You will love it!!!
