This book is a great way to introduce both the Alphabet and other cultures to your child. My two kids like it read to them at bedtime, just like the two kids in the story! It's true that the main illustrations don't necessarily match the stories that are described, but there are vignettes on each page that nicely illustrate smaller aspects of the story being told.

This warm and touching book will educate and inspire your children. The clever adoption of Cinderella stories from around the world teachs children about other cultures and ways of life in an inviting and accessable way. I wish there had been books like this when I was a child -- in order to learn about Nigeria, Vietnam, and Norway. This author's creative approach to teaching the alphabet and world cultures is sure to be one of your child's favorites

This is an excellent alphabet book that uses Cinderella aspects to build the ABCs. Great fun for collectors of ABC Books and Cinderella books.

I was very disappointed in this book though the description made it seem perfect for my use as an educator with a commitment to multiculturalism. It would be much more valuable if the entries gave the names of the different Cinderella stories --eg said "Yeh shien" instead of the "Chinese Cinderella story". I was particularly put off by the vapid illustrations which show Disney-bland characters--with no awareness of diversity. The opening picture for "A" shows a very blond girl in a 18th century peasant dress while the entry is about the Native American Cinderella!
