To be more accurate, Gibby and Moss aren't really the villains of this little novella. They're just kind of misguided. The villains are whoever murdered the man Gibby and Moss discover practically on their doorstep. And, horror of horrors, its the man who played Santa at the soup kitchen, and Christmas is fast approaching.
This story takes place before Allan Ansorge's book "Crossing the Centerline," and serves as an introduction to some of the many zany citizens of that fictitious town. Then "Crossing the Stateline" continues their saga.
Oh, and if you want to find out whodunnit in "A Midnight Clear," you'll have to read "Crossing the Centerline." Sneaky, Allan.
