Christmas Magic Is The Best..., December 26, 2009
This review is from: Midnight Clear, Too (Indigo) (Mass Market Paperback)
In MIDNIGHT CLEAR, TOO readers revisit Mystic Ridge, the quaint little town where magic is normal.
'Miracle Of Magic' by Gwynne Forster starts on a mystical dirt road that has a life of its own. Page Sutherland vacates her mother's overbearing political life in the Nation's Capital, to become a reporter in Mystic Ridge. Six hours later, she is stranded on an infrequently traveled dirt road. Political cartoonist and author, Nelson Pettiford is almost a recluse, the constant jokes about his almost seven foot height has him avoiding townsfolk. On this night he finds himself unwittingly propelled to this road. Being a big man with a big heart, he offers his assistance to the stranded traveler and is braced for her remarks about his height, but no remarks are forthcoming. What is imminent is a certain mystic magic and maybe the discovery of what's been missing in their lives.
'The Choice' by Monica Jackson is a coming of age story about thirty-four-year-old, Evelyn Sweet. Evelyn made one big mistake in her life, and lost hope of ever having a man. Her sisters agree, to them she is a barely attractive, plus sized woman who exists to cater to them. This Christmas Eve is the anniversary of her grandmother's death, and Evelyn has been hearing her voice. She is also having strange dreams of captivity, drowning, and a lost lover. When David Douglas, the high-school heartthrob returns to Mystic Ridge, every single woman has him in their scope; except Evelyn, but David is drawn to her. When an old family curse and the ancient past clash with the present, Evelyn must make a profound choice, and this is where the magic begins.
MIDNIGHT CLEAR, TOO is as intriguing as its predecessor. It also houses the spirit of the ancestors who watch over the town; setting old wrongs right and healing hearts. The season is Christmas and there is a special winter's night magic, beware!

First, the star rating is not indicative of this book, Amazon wouldn't let me leave remarks w/o rating it. Instead this is a heads up for Leslie Esdaile fans; she is NOT one of the authors in this reprint as Amazon has listed. The correct authors are Gwynne Forster & Monica Jackson.
