5.0 out of 5 stars "Ghost Hunters", September 21, 2009
Colorado Springs police officer, Buck Walker, is hired by the Rocky Mountain Paranormal Research Team (Rampart) as a psychic. He is able to see the dead and sometimes speak to them. Desi Hollyhock is very close-minded about psychics, believing they're all fakes and worse. Her main action in the Team seems to be to debunk any reported paranormal activity. Buck's first night with the team, paired with Desi, "sees" the spirit of a Dark Presence (believed to be ghosts associated with traumatic events that they caused or even demons). After "conversing" with a child's spirit in the home, Desi issues the invitation for the spirit to go home with her. This unleashes the DP to go to her home, and after some "spooky" activities, it actually begins to use Buck to hurt Desi. After finding that the DP in life murdered his wife in 1898, beheading her and framing the gardener for the crime, the Team must take serious actions to get rid of the presence. Any fan of the TV show "Ghost Hunters" will recognize the equipment used, and this book has a more serious flavor than most ghost stories. I read through this book quickly and was hooked from the start. I'm hoping there will be further books on the interesting secondary characters.
