Another wickedly funny and hot vampire tale, March 19, 2007
This review is from: Midnight Lover (The Vampire Series, Book 5) (Paperback)
Midnight Lover is another spell binding tale of vampires by Rosemary Laurey.
Vampire Toby Wise is helping out a fellow Vampire Tom Kyd by looking over the books at Conner Inc. Plus he has hired a staff of well-trained nurses to care for owner Piet Connor father of Tom's mate Elizabeth.
Toby is happy and content with his life and ways so far but one of the caregivers has gotten under his skin in several ways. There is something about Laura Fox that draws Toby.
Laura Fox is thrilled to be working for Toby. He is a kind, caring boss. But Laura is working there under false pretenses. Her father wants her to get damaging information on Connor Inc. This is easier said then done. Laura is caught red handed one night by Toby. He doesn't fire her for snooping in his study but compels her to tell him the truth.
Toby and Laura together try to solve the strange goings on in town and the sudden change in her father. They grow close and their chemistry is sizzling. But how will Laura react when she finds out the truth about Toby and his friends.
Rosemary Laurey's Vamps are delicious. This story is well told and compelling. The added treat of getting to revisit with past characters is delightful. Can't wait to sink my teeth into another story.

3.5 stars. I liked it. The writing and conversations have a spark., September 17, 2008
This review is from: Midnight Lover (The Vampire Series, Book 5) (Paperback)
The author had me chuckling several times. I liked the way luck came into play to foil the bad guy on a few different occasions. I wasn't expecting luck to be a helper, but it was nice. I also liked reading about Toby's past. He was a slave in S. Carolina just before the Civil War. He still had scars on his back. He escaped his owner by hiding on a British ship which took him to England. He later became a vampire in England and eventually moved to Oregon. There wasn't a lot of time spent on this back story, but it was a good addition to the story. This is book 5 in a series. I have only read this one book, and I enjoyed it without knowing about the others. Another reviewer claims these books are better when read in order.
Story brief: Evil vampire Axel comes to town, Dark Falls, and feeds from and mind controls Granger Fox, the local newspaper owner. Axel forces Granger to ask his daughter Laura to get a job in Piet's home to gather evidence against Piet, who is old and dying. Piet lives in the nearby town of Devil's Elbow. Laura gets a job working as a nurse for Piet. Toby is a vampire who is staying at Piet's home to sort out Piet's business affairs. Adela, a witch, lives in Dark Falls and is a friend of Toby's. Axel has a familiar, an evil creature called a chupacabra. This creature is killing animals in the town. The local people think Adela is responsible and threaten her. Other vampires and a ghoul become involved. Laura and Toby fall in love during all the craziness.

Midnight Lover (The Vampire Series, Book 5), February 25, 2009
This review is from: Midnight Lover (The Vampire Series, Book 5) (Paperback)
Rosemary Laurey captures your attention from start to finish. While some authors focus on one main character Rosemary makes each new book draws you into the lives of different vampire each time. I love that she lets you build a relationship with each character individually. I cannot wait unitil the next book is out.
