4.0 out of 5 stars Midnight Magic, August 20, 2000
This review is from: Midnight Magic (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Mass Market Paperback)
1. Patsy Washington is at a crossroads in her life. She is pregnant with her fiancé's child, and now she has caught him sleeping with her best friend. A wedding to Bryan Pickett is not going to happen. When her father Jacob Washington, a prominent businessman and city leader, hears that his only child is considering having a child out of wedlock, he insists Patsy either abort or quickly find a husband. Patsy seriously considers moving away, since abortion is not an option for her. Enter the knight in shining armor in the form of Austin Treadwell who was her high school sweetheart until her father intervened and broke them up. Jacob threatened and blackmailed him, and now sixteen years later he is up in his face again using threats that could ruin his future if he doesn't marry Patsy. Austin was a vulnerable boy and had the stigma of being from the South side, the wrong side of town. Now he has acquired two degrees and is a CPA about to enter law school. Austin has no doubts that Jacob would use his considerable influence to make trumped up charges stick and have him thrown in jail. When Austin proposes to Patsy, he cares for her, but the threat over his head causes him to not give of himself both emotionally and physically. Although at times this reviewer had difficulties with accepting that Austin's strong character could be intimidated by Patsy father, Ms. Forster's superb writing, well-developed secondary characters, and her ability to create exciting tension is still present.

5.0 out of 5 stars "The Midnight Hour", November 17, 2001
This review is from: Midnight Magic (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Mass Market Paperback)
Austin Treadwell might have grown up poor but his spirit and drive was rich. He fell in love with a girl from the other side of the track Patsy Washington, wealthy, caring, and from his point of view on the day they met fearless. Their young love probably would have flourished if it had not been for the interfering of her father Jacob who wanted more for his daughter than "poor Austin" could offer.

Sixteen years later pregnant, Patsy has broken her engagement with Bryan the man her daddy chose for her, due to his flandering with her best friend. In steps Austin it appears out of the blue, he has worked his way through school, is now a CPA who has earned a fellowship to attend Howard University pursuing the law degree he often talked about with Patsy. He asks her to share his dream, they both remember their love, can it be rekindled?

Austin and Patsy are devoted to their marriage, but a force neither can control wants to control their lives. Their genuine love and affection becomes the healing power that helps them work through their problems together. Patsy becomes her own woman, wife and lover for the man that has always owned her heart. Austin is strengthened under the determination of his wife to make their life together one to cherish, and making him see the only status in their marriage is based on their love for each other. Through them friends Cody and Lena make a love match that becomes a second chance at happiness. Patsy's mother Ethel proves weakness can be strong and her love for Patsy's father Jacob was the strength that kept him from his own demons or becoming one. This is truly one of my favorite books by Ms Forster.

5.0 out of 5 stars Midnight Love, November 16, 2001
This review is from: Midnight Magic (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Mass Market Paperback)
I read some of the sorry reviews, maybe we are not talking about the same book. I have read Ms Forester and have a respect for her writing. Patsy grew up after finding out the no-good Bryan was messing around with her best friend, she became a woman not afraid to stand up for what she wanted. Austin and Patsy loved each other from childhood and real love wont die just simmer until it can boil over like theirs did. I think deep dow Austin let Patsy's ole man trap him because he never got over having to break their relationship.

I loved the committment of Austin an Patsy, their love made you believe in lasting love. I liked Cody and Lena and how they proved love can be good at any age. I tell you I could feel the heat radiating off the page as Austin tried to keep the promise to himself but wanting to give to Patsy 100%. Ethel was a woman after my heart, and poor Jacob, he really was trying to do what he felt was best for his only child. Sweet, Loving, and Tender. I will share this book with friends.
