Extraordinary!!, September 2, 2005

Amanda McBroom is so hard to find here in my home country. Her discs are mostly only available at Hi-Fi specialty shops here where they are used to test hi-fi equipment and to show off how good the equipment (or is the album?) sounds. That was where I first heard her songs from the album "Dreaming".
"Midnight Matinee" is no exception as again the quality of audio is flawless. Amanda's songs are so good and her voice crystal clear that it is no wonder why her albums are used as test discs. The opening song "Crimes of the heart" starts the album off and you immediately realise that this is going to be another one superb outing from Amanda. I am also immediately taken in by "Make me a kite" where her vocals float, rolls and flies off with the music. The rest of the songs equally shows off her prowess and skills as an amazing vocalist.
There really is no equal to Amanda and her vocals and music on this album are exquisite, beautiful and textually rich. This is a vocalist like no other and it is amazing how little publicity she gets. Treasure this!
