Book Description

Julia's midnight reflections actually happened about four in the morning. She was far from home, lonely, watching a handsome man sleeping in her bed at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Robin, the handsome sleeping man, had put himself in terrible danger so she could solve a mystery. She had managed to rescue him, but now she was feeling guilty as hell

Julia was enacting a dangerous undercover role herself, working to complete her late brother's manuscript for a famous movie producer, while trying to find out why her brother was murdered. The other mystery was who this man, Robin, really was. She feared he might be much more than the simple mechanic he proclaimed himself to be. Can she really trust him?

Robin, while helping her in the investigation, actually is playing a role of his own, hiding his true identity, trying to win her heart.

Together, Julia and Robin manage to uncover information so explosive they are forced to flee a furiously angry and influential politician, who rules an army of people willing to do anything to get in his good graces. Even murder.

With so many romantic suspense books, one usually needs to suspend disbelief to a high degree over so many jarring coincidences and improbable or convoluted plot points, but this was relatively a non-issue for me with this book. We are told who the villain is very early on, so there weren't really any big twists or surprises here, but the story still kept my attention until the very last page! I always wanted to see how Julia and Robin's relationship would unfold and how justice for Julia's brother would be served.

I read the first eight chapters in one sitting, and the remainder of the book in the second sitting the next day, straight through (except for a short incoming phone call break) due to the easy story telling/writing flow and definite reading escapism factor. The main characters had the right blend of strong and vulnerable and were plausible and relatable. I think the author created two of the more realistic main characters I've read in a while in this genre with regard to their thoughts, emotions, insecurities, and the relationship pace and development. I especially liked that the story continued for a chapter or two after the "we-got-the-bad-guy" part of the story concluded.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes their romances with an actual story, a little suspense and action, and less page-after-page of repetitive erotica type drooling, angst, and sex. Kindle formatting was excellent and contained only a few typos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Romance - Recommended December 25, 2010
By penf
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this romance, even though it is a full length novel, in two days. I just couldn't put it down because the pace was fast and it was so much fun. The book seemed real because the heroine and hero were not put in situations that seemed contrived or unreal. The author had a good sense of humor throughout, and you could really feel the pain the Julia went through to try to find a reason and justice for a tragedy in her family. The hero, Robin, wasn't too nice. He was very pragmatic and realistic and knew exactly what he wanted. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants romance with a real story in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Read Romantic/Suspense!!! October 12, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I really love this book. It was an awesome page turner. I was in suspense through the whole book.

It starts out with Julia going and finding out about her brother. She finds him in a hospital not getting the medical attention that he needed. She moves him to a private hospital.

Her car gets towed and when she leaves the impound the car starts acting up. She's stuck on the road and that's how she first meets Robin. He's a lawyer but mistakes him for a mechanic. Robin helps her tow her car and drops her off at the hospital.

Unfortunately Julia's brother dies. Robin suspects foul play.

Robin and Julia join forces to uncover the truth.

This is a wonderfully written story and I really enjoyed it. Wish that Midnight Reflections had never ended. If it hadn't though I'd never got any sleep. 5-stars. - Crystal Newman, The Kindle Book Review.

1.0 out of 5 stars Clearly I didn't read the same book! March 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I seem to be in the minority here but this book was $.99 to much and 20 something chapters too long. I like a good thriller romance but this book wasn't it. The dialogue was stilted in places and completely muddled in others. For all her intellect, it took Julia a really long time to figure out that Robin wasn't some poor mechanic. The author droned on in many places and I just didn't connect with the story at all because it was just unbelievable...a lawyer and a photographer brought down a drug kingpin with what appeared to be a good deal of high jinks. And don't get me started on how Julia found out about the "bet". She acted so dramatically that I wanted to hurt her. The whole "present" dialogue irritated me because it just kept going on and on...unnecessarily so. a nutshell, I won't be reading anything from this author again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Developed, Plot-Driven February 18, 2012
By Lisa R
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Though not as intense and fast paced as most of the romantic suspense I read, the plot was engaging and interesting and kept me reading. The plot is well developed and continues two chapters past where most would end. I didn't mind that. This book is plot-driven. I prefer a plot heavier on romance, but I liked this book and the characters.

i was minding my own business friday when the author of this fine book offered to give a copy to the next 5 people who asked, so i grabbed a quick sample - hey my momma didn't raise any dummies- and since i liked it, i asked to read the whole thing.

it's a good quick read, with a hero ( and his friends) and a heroine with a grandmother, and chase scenes and everything.

grab it- you'll like it!

Editorial Reviews: THE LIVING IMAGE by P.M. Richter

"[The Living Image] is an exciting and detailed thriller story which simply oozes with suspense and greedy characters! I especially like how P. M. Richter eneded the story. If you like the movies "The Fugitive", "The Pelican Brief", or "The Client" then this story is for you!" -- Huntress Book Reviews

"THE LIVING IMAGE takes us on a dangerous and unforgettable journey into the frightening reality of the unexpected--a novel of conspiracy, betrayal, survival, and deep abiding love. A page turner that draws the mettle of the story to a satisfying conclusion, and proves that when you think you have reached your darkest hour, the brightest of your dreams can come true........" -- Betty Wiechert, former reviewer for Affaire de Coeur magazine

"WOW!! This one I could not put down!! To go to a tanning salon for a little color and come home with a clone! A living image of yourself, only better. How disconcerting! The clone is to be a better offshoot of the human race. The intrigues of three major intelligence agencies to reach that prize are fun to watch as the two "foxes" continually outfox the hounds. Since life is the prize if the girls win, there is much at stake. A definate must read." -- Laurie L. Gruber, BookNook Reviews
