One of the more unfortunately overlooked disco one-hit wonders,
By Glen Zimmerman "RealMenDriveFords" (Lindenwold, New Jersey) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Midnight Rendezvous (Audio Cassette)
An actress and singer who may be remembered by some for her role as Auntie Em in "The Wiz," this album (the only one she ever made) is a solid and extremely enjoyable album that should have put Tasha right up alongside some of the great ladies of disco. She had a hit with the song "Shoot Me (With Your Love)," and it, along with "You Put The Music In Me," "Street Fever" and "Hot Buttered Boogie," are all great examples of melodic, infectious disco. The midtempo number "Wake Up Morning Glory," is pleasant and relaxing, and she also harks back to some of the great chanteuses of the old days with the bluesy, lamenting ballad "Drinking Again," which also goes to show that she has some excellent vocal chops. Unfortunately, cancer killed her at the age of 33 in 1984.
