This is a republish of Family Men: Daddy's Little Helper/Because of the Baby (Midnight Sons Series 3-4).

Daddy's Little Helper
Mitch is a single dad raising a precocious little girl. He is a widow and not looking to remarry--the first marriage didn't work out well and he doesn't plan to go through it again. Too bad his daughter, Chrissie, has other plans.
Chrissie has decided the new teacher in town, Bethany Ross, would make the perfect wife for her dad. Mitch doesn't disagree that she is pretty and nice and he wouldn't mind getting to know her better, but he has no plans to marry her.
Cute as all the other Macomber books I have read. It does have the "cute kid" storyline, but it isn't annoying like some can be. Chrissie plays a big part in things, but not too much to make her seem like a bratty little kid.
Lots of continuation of the Hard Luck, Alaska town story. These stories need to be read in order...each one follows the next and relies heavily on the previous.


Because of the Baby
Matt still loves his ex-wife Karen, but she can't forgive him for not settling down. He never did follow through with any of his career paths. He has decided to rebuild the Lodge in Hard Luck and make it a tourist business with fishing trips, dogsled trips, and other Arctic Circle trips. He wants to make it work not only for himself, but to prove to Karen he can make it work. He wants her back, but can't seem to get her to listen to him.
When Karen comes to Hard Luck for his sister's wedding, one thing leads to another and in a few weeks she finds out she is expecting a his baby.
I want to first thank Debbie Macomber for NOT making this a secret baby storyline. Karen considers not telling Matt, but thank goodness that doesn't last for more than a couple of lines. Yea!
This is a reconciliation story. Matt and Karen have a history and need to move forward and put it behind them to make it work. They love each other from the start, but have no idea how to make it work.
Good story...not my favorite of all of the Midnight Sons so far, but good. It also continues the Hard Luck town story. It really does feel like a middle story...I'm looking forward to reading about Christian and Mariah and Duke and Tracy. Both stories have been building for a while. I did miss that John seemed to have disappeared. He just seemed to have dropped away after proposing to Sally. Hmm...

I simply loved this series. After reading book one I had no choice but to follow the series through to the end. A good light read and easy to finish in a day. A good follow up to book one as Debbie Macomber sets up this book with the events that occur in the first book and follows this through seamslessly with book #3.

I like Debbie's books because they have family values . No sex , no swearing. Good clean christian reading. I have read all her books

"Daddy's Little Helper" Bethany Ross has come to Hard Luck to teach and to meet her biological father. She does not intend to fall in love. Town Safety officer Mitch Harris isn't looking for a new wife but Mitch's seven year old daughter Chrissie think that Bethany would be perfect. But both Bethany and Mitch have to overcome the past in order to have a future together.
"Because of the Baby" Matt Caldwell has finally found his calling, but it came to late for his former wife Karen, who left Matt cause he couldn't settle on a job. But after one night, they find them soon to be parents. But as Matt tries to build his new business in Hard Luck, he also have to convice Karen they can build their future too.
These two stories make up "Midnight Sons volume 2 by Debbie Macomber and it was pretty good. I still like the stories local of Hard Luck Alaska, were the women are few but for those who do come they find men ready to love and car for them. Overall, this was a good book and I am sorry that the series wasn't longer.

I cannot say enough bout Debbie Macomber's writing! She takes you there, where ever there might be and leaves you with a warm glow in your heart. I love all her books and this is a series so more to look forward to!

Book arrived on schedule and in the advertised condition. I wouldn't hesitate to order another book from Econga Books or from Amazon. Debbie Macomber is one of my favorite authors and I always enjoy one of her series.

I LOVE Debbie Macomber's work, but with this series, I feel like she isn't putting enough into her characters and it has becomes very predictable reading her books. This really disappoints me. Rather than cranking out many books, I'd wish she go back to character development and put some twists in there as well. I won't be saving this one.

I enjoy most of Debbie Macomber's books. This is a very enjoyable series. You really care about the characters and like finding out what happens to them. The locale is intriguing.

As usual, Debbie Macomber did an excellent job on this book. Lots of laughter, and plenty of food for thought. Being from Alaska, I could picture myself staying at their lodge. I wish there was a volume 3!

I love a book that finishes but also continues into another book. This is a great story line and I've enjoyed every book in it.
