For the 3rd installment of their MIDNIGHT SOUL series, Kinkysweet re-enlists volume 1 compiler DJ Tom Thump (http://tomthump.com) to mix and curate another bouncing, nocturnal, urban soundtrack. Assembling a cross-section of tracks from established and emerging players in the international Nu-Soul massive, such as, Platinum Pied Pipers, Shaun Escoffery, Rich Medina, LA Collective The Rebirth, and more. Thump brilliantly programs an essential late night series spread across two scorching discs.

Disc One opens with the warm carresses of Andre Orefjard feat. Koop's May Yamani on vocals, and a sparkling reworking of the Beatles "With a Little Help From My Friends" before sliding into tasty selections from Black Gold Massive, Yam Who's pumping cosmic reworking of Break Reform's "Am I" and Boozoo Bajou featuring the incomparable Willie Hutch.

Disc Two continues the flow with tracks like Jazzanova's remix of Heavy's (Minnie Riperton dedicated) "Wonderlove",Kid Sublime's funky "Something About Your Love" and Rich Medina feat. Martin Luther's sultry "Too Much", closing out with Pyeng Threadgills acoustic soul version of The Cure's "Close to Me"! MIDNIGHT SOUL 3 is another blazin' set of 21st Century Soul guaranteed to get you in the mood for some serious after hours mackin'.

I listen to almost nothing but neo soul and independent artists. It's almost impossible to find them in stores in the Mid-South, so I LOVE it when Amazon offers them.

I have all three of the neo soul Midnight Souls. They are fabulous. I can't say which song or which volume is my favorite, but all can fit any mood at the right time. But the Platinum Pied Pipers will always be my #1 group.

Simply put... buy them! You'll love them so much, you won't want to lend out your discs. Just tell them "You gotta get your own." ;-)

What I mean in my title is not that this is something new just that its something different than what is played on mainstream radio and sold in your local record store. This is a good selection of soul, neo soul. acid jazz and soft rock tunes played to todays standard in recording some of these will actually blow your mind for its quality.
