Beautiful, Haunting, incredible,
By
This review is from: Midnight Sun (Audio CD)
I am a passionate follower of many styles of music, ranging from classic rock, to folk, to hard rock and much more... and this cd is easily one of the top 5 albums I have ever listened to. It delivers track after track of great songs. Some are beautiful, some are catchy, and some are just haunting, but nearly every track bar maybe one or two just leaves my wanting more. The tracks are mostly very different and bring something else to the table, whilst they all seem to obtain a similar beautiful quality. Lyrically are very impressive.
Highlights include "Midnight sun": and absolutely brilliant song which is perhaps the highlight of the cd. One of my favorites "So much more", "Angel tears": another brilliant song, these are just personal favorites amongst a group of fantastic songs. Maggie reilly opposed to most singers these days actually "sings" her songs without yelling and I could and do listen to the album over and over again.. in my opinion her best work ever and I highly reccommend to anyone, this album will impact you.. must have..

Listenable, but not the best,

This review is from: Midnight Sun (Audio CD)
This is one of my favourite singers. Yet the problem with this CD, as far as I'm concerned, is its music, which is only "so-so". There are a few songs that are indeed beautiful, such as Follow the Midnight Sun or Wind on the Water, but one may easily get a bit tired of the other ones - I mean, they are not bad, but well, don't listen to them too often. I give it 4 stars on the whole because the voice is worth 5, and even more. Buy it if you wish to own everything she did, but if you're not familiar with her work, I would advise you tried Starcrossed or her best of There and back again instead, or stuff on which she appeared (such as Sitting on top of the world by Jack Bruce, The naked Shakespeare by Peter Blegvad, the boy with a note by Ralph Mc Tell, and of course Mike Oldfield's eighties releases).
