Book Description

Reviews:
"This book was filled with a little bit of steam, a whole lot of action, and a realistic plot line that you can’t help but be sucked into. I highly recommend this book to anyone who isn’t afraid of pirates who need a good ass kickin’!"

"I rate this book a Get Your Own Copy! A book you love so much, no way are you loaning it out. Worthy of high praise and frequent recommendations – but trust us, if you let someone borrow this one, they’ll “forget” to return it."

"Filled with adrenaline pumping moments and those sensually stirring scenes of passion that never fails to evoke all the right kind of emotions, Midnight Sun is recommended for those who love romantic suspense in unusual settings."

Blurb:

This wasn’t the adventure she’d signed up for…
A sexy boss, a rough crossing, and pirates—all Brylie Winston wanted was a job to help her earn money to buy her own restaurant. She hopes to earn it by working as a chef on a cruise to Antarctica. But she’s slept with her boss, which throws her off-balance even more than the rough seas and warnings of pirates in the area. And he’s determined to have a repeat performance…
Bad boy former snowboarder Marcus Devlin is running from his reputation, sent to learn the family business after decking a senator’s son and making the papers. So maybe he indulged in a last-minute fling before boarding his family’s cruise ship to Antarctica. Perhaps Fate is showing him that wasn’t so bad—the gorgeous redhead who snuck out of his bed is on the cruise. She’ll be a lovely distraction during his exile.
But when modern-day pirates take over the ship, his instinct is to protect her and the other passengers. But what does a spoiled rich boy know about saving people’s lives?

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining January 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Brylie Winston and Marcus Devlin, two strangers in the night that pass said night in a bout of wild passionate sex. Brylie sneaks out while Marcus is asleep and goes to her job as chef on a cruise ship heading to Antarctica. Marcus wakes up and instead of being relieved that Brylie is gone, he decides he needs to find her. Only first he needs to show up for a cruise (run by his family) to Antarctica, his family's idea of punishment for doing something stupid. To his surprise, Brylie is his employee. They set off and the excitement begins.

This was a decent story with great writing, but I just couldn't like the two main characters. I liked Brylie more than Marcus, but even she ticked me off by letting her hormones rule her head in regards to Marcus. Marcus is one of those guys I can't stand, he's rich and selfish, pushy and obnoxious and doesn't take `No' for an answer. Brylie was a wimp who let him walk all over her.

When pirates attack the cruise ship he redeems himself a bit by being a quick thinker, but then he ruins it by being Mister I'm-in-Charge-even-though-I'm-less-than-useless-because-I'm-a-spoiled-rich-ass. Gah! The danger and life-threatening situation should've changed him at least a little bit, but by the end he was still the same jerk, in my opinion. I have no respect for Brylie for sticking with her rich loser at the end.

Brylie and Marcus were like little pebbles stuck in my shoe while hiking the Grand Canyon. The view is awesome, but the pebbles are so annoying it takes away from the splendor. The story 'Midnight Sun' was awesome, but Brylie and Marcus were annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breath-stealing, Heart-stopping Suspense--and Romance November 22, 2011
By Legar
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Halfway around the world to escape broken dreams, Brylie Winston allows herself one night of glorious passion with a charming stranger, then slips out of his dark room to escape him forever. Unfortunately, she runs into him again--boarding the ship she works on as chef. Boarding his ship.

Marcus Devlin, former Olympic skateboarder, perpetual daredevil and screw-up, has been ordered, literally, to the ends of the earth. Ordered to learn the shipping side of the family business, he is Antarctica bound on the Ice Queen, with absolutely nothing but resentment towards his assignment--until he runs into the gorgeous redhead who spent the night with him, but sneaked away while he slept. Being owner might have its perks, and Brylie doesn't exactly seem to mind his single-minded pursuit. At all.

But icebergs sank even the Titanic, and their romance runs into immediate obstacles. The captain of the ship is none other than Brylie's dad. And an unexpected warning of pirate activity in the South Pacific turns deadly when pirates board the Ice Queen, taking the crew and passengers hostage.

Marcus, never willing to be the go-to guy for anything, suddenly must assume responsibility for hundreds of lives--including Brylie's although she shows herself as capable and self-sufficient as any woman he's ever met.

In Midnight Sun, MJ Fredrick creates a compelling, breath-stealing story of love, passion and redemption--played out at breakneck speed across frigid waters and the barren ice of Antarctica. Warning--readers may need oxygen to get through all the unexpected terrors in this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Non-Stop Action! August 2, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Likeable characters, non-stop action and really bad bad guys make this exciting book by MJ Fredrick unputdownable. Cruise-ship chef Brylie and cruise-ship owner Marcus find passion for each other in an on-shore encounter then fight for their lives when their ship bound for Antarctica is boarded by pirates. Together they save the day, then save it again.

Locations and situations you don't often see in romance novels abound here. Midnight Sun is a great read!

2.0 out of 5 stars Gave me the fidgets July 30, 2012
By Nana
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
There's nothing like a little steamy sex to spice up an adventure story. I must be getting old, but the sex scenes in this novel were not only predictable, but they dragged on for page after page after page. It got to the point where I just wanted to skip them and get on with the plot. The story was certainly entertaining. The plot line was very plausible. (Imagine a cruise ship, as opposed to the usual merchant vessel, taken over by pirates or terrorists.) The characters developed well. But I could have done with a lot less gratuitous, frankly boring, bedroom athletics. If this is an "adventure romance," then I need to stay away from the genre.

Set in the Antartica. Romance, pirates, catastrophes, and lots of hot remedies for hypothermia. The relationships felt real and human, not glorifying, accepting of each other.
