PRAISE FOR TIFFANY CLARE

and her captivating novels…

“Tiffany Clare writes a swoon-worthy romance filled with rich details and vivid characters. Any readers wishing for a bold and sweeping historical romance need look no further—Tiffany Clare is a treasure of an author!”—Lisa Kleypas, New York Times bestselling author

The Secret Desires of a Governess

“With its irrepressible heroine, deliciously dark and dangerous hero, and suitably atmospheric setting, Clare’s latest impeccably written novel cleverly references the classic gothic romances of Victoria Holt and Madeleine Brent, while at the same time incorporating plenty of the steamy passion and lush sensuality found in today’s brand of sexy historical romances.”—Booklist

“With its brooding hero and dark backdrop Clare brings an updated gothic twist to her latest novel. By incorporating the themes and red herrings of a classic Victoria Holt or Daphne du Maurier, she entices readers to keep turning the pages to uncover the mystery and savor the highly sensual romance.”—RT Book Reviews

“This is an entertaining throwback to the Virginia Holt legendary Gothic tales as Tiffany Clare employs all the elements from the innocent female, to the foreboding castle to the brooding hero inside a romantic suspense thriller. Abby and Elliot are terrific lead characters while the support cast especially his son, the villagers, and her family make for a wonderful Victorian Gothic romance.”—Midwest Book Review

From the Back Cover

In this sensational Dangerous Rogues novel, a respectable lady plans to shock London society—by enticing the wickedest scoundrel she can find.

SEDUCE AND DESTROY…

Tristan Bradley, the notorious Marquess of Castleigh, is a danger to any woman’s reputation. Devastatingly handsome and devilishly seductive, he delights in the challenge of a lovely new conquest—especially when she’s engaged to a man he despises. But when this particular young lady asks him to dance, Tristan realizes he may not be the only one playing a game.

…OR FALL DANGEROUSLY IN LOVE?

Defiantly bold and disarmingly beautiful, Lady Charlotte Lindsey will do anything to break free from her loathsome fiancé—even destroy her good name to do it. What better way to seal the deal than a tryst with Lord Tristan, who’s led many a girl to ruin? But when Charlotte looks into his eyes—and Tristan takes her in his arms—all of their schemes melt away...because the heart has a plan of its own.

“[Tiffany Clare writes] sensual historical romance that will touch your heart.”—Romance Junkies

Tristan had his faults, but I still liked him and I seriously could not figure out what he saw in this girl!

A wedding designed in marriage misery for Lady Charlotte Lindsey will be stopped regardless of how Charlotte does it. The man her father has chosen is not only boring, and self-serving, but also just plain mean. Charlotte knows the one path to potential marriage destruction is to involve a rake of the highest quality, Tristan Bradley, the Marquess of Castleigh. Game on!

Charlotte finds every opportunity to get as close as possible to Tristan without getting burned and he knows what she is after, but will he agree to such a plan. Tristan never saw marriage to a woman he might just enjoy the company of in his plans but Charlotte is charming her way into his heart as well as his bed. Once they are together, Tristan is committed to keeping them that way, regardless of her father or anyone else's objections.

My dear Tiffany Clare please continue to write more about these wonderful people, and the romance that drives their desires. Thank you so much.

Like others I thought the writing was poor but hung in there because I thought the story had possibilities. But then the book just ended. Seriously, I thought the version I had was a misprint because I was expecting more chapters. So many issues unresolved. It's like the author quit in middle of her book!

I agree with the previous reviewer, there was so many things wrong with novel.

The heroine was the worst for me. It should have been named "Midnight Aggravations with a Mean Girl" Be cause thats what she was. I've read hundreds of books and have never disliked a female lead like I have Charlotte. She was spoiled, inconsiderate, and why she was so resistant to marrying Tristan, I have no idea.

Tristan had his faults, but I still liked him and I seriously could not figure out what he saw in this girl! I kept waiting for her to change or at least show some redemptive qualities, but there weren't any. She kept getting worse and worse. The final straw was when her cousin was ruined, she could have cared less. She never once tried to see about her even though she was told that she had been cast out. This is a period of time where ruined women would not be accepted by anyone! She could have literally ended up in the streets and Charlotte never uttered one word. The character was so self absorbed in a way you usually see in an evil secondary character.

And it was irritating that knowledge of the first book in the series was needed here. I read it, but couldn't remember exactly what happened since its been a while. But then again, it might have been a good thing. I do remember liking the cousin in the first book and the way the heroine in this treated her, would make me dislike her even more.

What saved this book from being a 1 star were the letters. I thought it was clever the way they went back to writing each other, but it wasn't enough to redeem Charlotte. Tiffany Clare is a good writer. I've enjoyed her earlier books. I just don't know how a character like this got through the editing process.

Bottom line: wait for the next book or read the first book in the series. It is the same time line and you'll enjoy it better an this one

i never write reviews but had to on thisvbook because it was so disappointing. It is half a story It just ends as if the author stopped caring. There is no resolution with the father, or any explanation of the driving force and reason behind tge father and ex-fiance. Nothing is resolved with the unaccepting step child The parentage of the children is not revealed to the heroine. The hero's initial reasons for seeking out the heroine are swept under ge rug. The list goes on and on. Save your money and don't buy this half-written, half-assed story.

I liked the story, but as the other reviewers stated, the story just ended with no resolve. I hate books that don't close up at least the main story. In my opinion the author wants us to buy her next book to finish this story. She seems to have done that with her first book. She only hinted that Leo and Genny will marry. Nothing has been confirmed straight out, at least for me. I had to re-read some paragraphs to fully comprehend what the author was trying to say.I will give her next book one more try, but if she continues to write like this,I won't purchase any more of her work.

I think the previous reviewers were a bit harsh. True, reading the first book in this series DID help me in following Charlotte's story and yes, I WAS surprised by Charlotte's apparent lack of concern when cousin Ginny seemed to be ruined. HOwever, I chalked up of these holes to the author deliberately holding back and haviong plans to pick up where she left off in order to fill them, in the next installment of the series.
To each his.her own I guess.
I found Charlotte to be naivee, as opposed to annoying. Thank God Tristen was around to be her knight in shining armour.
As for Charolotte's father...he does come across as unyielding and rather selfish. However, I am hoping the"the widow" he mentioned to Charlotte will be successful in helping him to take steps to end the rift he's created with his daughter.
I also am anxious to see if Clare fills the reader in and resolves the relationship between Warren and Bea. I agree there are holes there (as well as holes in Warren's being hell bent to marry a woman he delighted in annoying). He too is a puzzle whose missing pieces I am confident Clare will well...claify...in the next book.
The last series was a trilogy. I am hoping Clare either:
1. Makes this one a 4 book series (a story for Hayden, but I think there is room for Warren's story to be told as a stand alone, as well)
2. Make the final book a longer one than the previous 2, so ther writer has time to tie up all those loose ends in a satifying way.

Having read her other books, I have faith that TifFany Clare won't disappoint with the next installment. With this story she has set up the next book perfectly and I can't wait to see what she has in store for these wonderful characters.
