Book Description

Harlequin Blaze June 1, 2006
Some men know exactly how to touch a woman… Sick of being told what she can't do, blue-blooded Kate Spinney has distanced herself from her arrogant, overly entitled family. Now living in Miami, Kate finds herself adrift in the land of spiked heels, thong panties and one very, very spicy hottie named Alejandro Torres — whose main goal seems to be showing her what she can do…to every delicious inch of his body! But Alejandro is living two lives: the one he shows Kate, and another as co-owner of a salon and spa. And what he actually does at the salon is his carefully guarded secret. Kate must never discover his hidden identity. Especially since nearly every woman in Miami is dying for his touch…

More About the Author

Award winning author Karen Kendall has always been a creative spirit, fleeing into the fictional world at an early age, emerging only to obtain a Bachelors' degree in something even less practical: Art History. After completing graduate coursework for an MA and working for several small museums and a large commercial art gallery, she realized her dream of being an author, and has since published over twenty novels. She now resides both in South Florida and in her various story worlds. Her husband Don tolerates her imaginary friends -- as long as she socializes with real ones, too!

3.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful hero; irritating heroine, November 16, 2008
This review is from: Midnight Touch (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book has a great premise, a wonderful developed hero and a heroine who is rather irritating.
The hero, Alejandro "Alejo" Torres, is a Peruvian-American man living in Miami. He's a soccer star, a "Latin lover," a business owner trying going to school to get his MBA. That is where he sees Aristocratic shampoo Heiress, Kate Spinney, and developes an instantaneous attraction to her.
Kate is a Boston Blue-Blood, trying to get away from the shackles of her controlling family. She moved as far away from them as she could to earn her MBA. Kate's major issue in the book is trying to free herself from being so uptight. However, she speaks out and says whatever she feels she needs to say. Often she said, "Spinneys are never rude," however she came across that way often.
Alejo's major issue is that his family business is a beauty salon; he's their most requested manicurist/pedicurist. He tries to hide this from his Latin friends and from Kate, afraid of what she would think of him. Part of this stems from when he was a young boy, getting teased for having to help in the family business. His struggles were well-written. It would be easy to fall for Alejo.
Kate, on the other hand, let her cousin insult Alejo over and over, thought the worst of Alejo on many accounts, jumped to many conclusions... She was the epitome of "spoiled brat." She was a strong woman with a sense of humor, but so rude and distrusting that she lacked warmth or charm. There was not much to love about her.
This book was truly okay due to Alejo, the fantastically hot love scenes, and the other supporting characters. There was a lot of humor in this book also, but in my humble opinion, it got old very fast. I started wishing for it to end about 50 pages from finishing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Is the macho man, so macho?, July 11, 2006
This review is from: Midnight Touch (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoy Karen Kendall writing style. Her books are a mixed of sensuality and humor.
"Midnight touch" was a great read.
Alejandro a macho man works at a Spa as a manicure however none of his friends or his girlfriend (Kate) knows the real identity of him at work. The two main characters are well developed. I hope you a have agreat time with this two as well as I did.
What will it happen when everybody find out that Alex is a man who makes living fixing women feet?.
I laughed out loud many times during this book.
I really liked the used of Spanish words it makes the story sexier and funnier. So go and grab this book you won't be sorry.
