Book Description

December 1, 2007
Illegal gambling, confidential diamond importing, money laundering, and murder are common practice for millionaire Wayne Remmington. Basing his operation in Memphis, Tennessee has turned heads and District Attorney Ben Lawson intends to do more than watch as he fights to bring Remmington's operation to an end. However, the rich villain's connections stand high on the corporate ladder; and, all he has to do is present a scapegoat for the jury. At first glance, Ryan Smith seems to be the perfect candidate for the set up; but, with the help of his brother, Ricky, and some of his close friends from his military past, Ryan could prove to be an adversary bringing more than a good fight. The chase is on! Can Smith overcome all obstacles and help Lawson bring down this unorthodox kingpin? Or, will Remmington's crew leave a trail of mayhem to be blamed on a body unable to argue his inocense?

Editorial Reviews

Review

Seasoned writers beware! Midnight Train to Memphis is an excellent start for Derek B. Davis. Davis has written an addicting page turner for his first time in print. Midnight Train to Memphis has it all; illegal gambling, money laundering, romance, suspense and murder. Ryan Smith and his brother, Ricky, innocently go on a vacation to celebrate his return from the army. A leisurely trip in Tennessee soon turns to a life or death chase when Ryan is framed for the activities of the notorious diamond smuggler, Wayne Remmington. I foresee another John Sanford in young Derek B. Davis. --Dorothy Bley, Sr. Editor, DotSon Publishing Group

About the Author

Derek proudly served in the United States Army and did two tours of duties in Iraq. During this time he started his first novel. The project was put on hold until he returned to make his home in Camden, SC with his wife, Christie and daughter, Riley. As a tennis pro, Christie's accomplishments are numerous. While she is hitting away on the tennis courts, Derek is working on the sequel to midnight Train to Memphis and enjoying being a work from home dad.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like this author, December 27, 2007
This review is from: Midnight Train to Memphis (Perfect Paperback)
Derek Davis has a way with words. For a "new" author, he shows amazing maturity in his story development. His military experience colors his work and helps the believibility of his characters and their actions, but he does not make it into a military story. I'm waiting for that sequel.
