Midnight Walk is a refreshing collection of 14 horror/dark-themed short stories. Filled with new-to-me authors, this is quite the enjoyable read. The contents:

1. Monsoon Devil by Armand Constantine - Starts the anthology off with a bang. Nightmarish quality with doomed characters.

2. The Tennatrick by John Palisano - Decent little ancient monster story.

3. The Guixi Sisters by Jodi Kaplan Lester - Beautifully written.

4. Silver Needle by Richard Grove - Classic dark fairy tale.

5. The Measure of a Man by George Willis - I'm a zombie fan of the highest order. Put those zombies in a more unique setting, and I'll be applauding. Ships of the hungry undead floating from port to port? Oh, yeah! Tell me more and please make it bloody.

6. The Grieving Process by Mike McCarty - Loved this one because I truly didn't know where it was taking me at first.

7. Late Check-In by Vince Churchill - Evil ghosts will always have a special place in my heart. Great story.

8. Inside Out by Lisa Majewski - A he-got-what-he-deserved story worthy of some evil chuckles.

9. Diana and the Goong-Si by Lisa Morton - Victorian vamp story by way of the Orient.

10. Alley Oops by Del Howison - Although this story just didn't grab me, Howison makes good use of eerie imagery of wind and running.

11. The Mysterious Name by Kelly Dunn - One of the few stories in this anthology that didn't hold my attention for long. Not bad, just not my cup of tea.

12. Eddie G. at the Gates of Hell by R. B. Payne - What's not to love about a giant, oozing fly from hell?

13. The Bear Who Swallowed the Sky by Jason M. Light - I loved this one. Simple and almost lyrical. I'll definitely look for more from Light.

14. The Svancara Supper Society by Joey O'Bryan - Dark horror/science fiction. Queasy stomachs should read something else. :)

Overall, this was a great read. It's refreshing to read stories by authors I haven't read before. Who knows? The next "big" thing in horror might be within these pages. I like that each story is uniquely themed. I really enjoy short stories, but single-themed anthologies don't always hit the mark.

Midnight Walk is the first release from Darkhouse Publishing. They're promising to produce quality, affordable books - I like that. Although those special and/or limited editions are nice and look awesome on the shelf, it's wonderful to find good horror novels that I can actually afford and don't mind sharing. This is definitely an anthology I would buy to gift to my horror reading friends.

These are new writers and I tried to read each story without any expectations. I truly enjoyed most of them. Some were so good it is hard to believe the authors are new. Most of the stories had me hooked from the first paragraph or two but one in particular I was so engrossed in I couldn't have stopped reading if you tried to pay me. One or two of the stories I found a bit confusing but it could have just been me reading too fast.

On the whole it was a terrific book with a wide variety of stories to interest just about anyone. It also had varying degrees of horror/suspense so that not all the stories were in the gross area, though a couple of them were (one of my favorites as a matter of fact). I think it was well worth the cost of the book and now I have some new authors to put on my list and keep an eye out for!

This is a collection of 14 tales of horror by 14 different writers. The stories are diverse, imaginative, definitely intense and at times even moving. From a hideous monster to ancient evil. From seafaring zombies to a mysterious demonic statue. I thoroughly enjoyed this collection. I'm sure we will be seeing more great stuff from all of the writers who contributed to this anthology. If you're a fan of horror and suspense you'll love this collection. Good stuff. Take the midnight walk....

I really enjoyed the collection. Horror isn't what I usually read, but this collection really got my attention. I've passed my copy to a couple of friends who enjoyed it as well.

I love a collection of short stories that make me jump up and look around when I hear a noise outside... in the middle of the day. I especially liked the George Willis zombie tale with a new twist on the where n when. I have read this book and I recommend it to you.

I liked every one of these stories, and especially loved "Inside Out" and "The Measure of a Man". The characters keep creeping into my mind a week after reading them...kind of how I 'measure a book'

I loved these stories! I'm an avid horror fan and was completely surprised because I'd never heard of any of the authors. I have to say it is one of the best horror books I've read in a long time even if it did ruin Halloween for me. I've already encouraged a couple of friends to read it and we all have different favorites so I can't comment on which story you'll like best, you'll have to find that out for yourself!

Very happy I was introduced to this anthology. Stories range from very good to great, and some are literally haunting; whenever I walk the local hills I remind myself "it couldn't happen to me, here... it was only a story..."

I downloaded this book because I received a new Kindle for Christmas. Why is there NO Table of Contents for an anthology? I can understand if it is free, but why charge for something that is done poorly? I hope the stories make up for the poor effort of formatting for the Kindle.
