I acknowledge I'm new to erotic Muscle Toon art, but I had expected a lot more - and a lot better - from Bruno Gmunder publishing. Midnightman promises to be a fun, erotic read, featuring an over-muscled superhero, explicit scenes, dastardly villains, and all with a slightly spaceage blending background (and just a touch of SpyKidz fun - albeit for fans who prefer their heroes both super-muscled and priapically gifted). However, the art is erratically presented, often crudely drawn, and the rushed result looks it. Barely recommended, although I thought the captioning was great. It's not really the ideas behind the stories that were the problem: it was the execution, which is decidedly amateurish. Be advised as well, that unless it's your thing for Midnightman to share modestly "explicit" intimacies with blobs from space, you're not likely to have the rousing good time the copy promises. Vintage "L'il Abner" from the Franzetta Years - and 1961 - is a lot hotter.
