I bought this CD about 5 years ago originally, to help myself relax and deal with insomnia. I found it very relaxing myself. Now, I play it in my son's room (he's nine months old now), every night. We've actually worn it out! I'm ordering a SECOND COPY! I don't know what I'd do without it!

I originally had never heard of the Solitudes collection. Then I had a work injury that needed massage therapy. While I was in therapy to recover, the lady doing the massage put this CD in. Never had I heard such a melody of music and nature that was so peaceful. Along with the treatment and listening to the music, by the time my treatment was near completion each time, I was beginning to drift off.

Peaceful and serine. If you need to unwind, or have had a stressful day, I reccomend this CD.

It doesn't hurt to play it during a massage, either. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed! ^_^

This is a favorite CD of mine. I listened to it often while editing my book.

Self Love as Spiritual Practice

In a world surrounded by negativity, where can one find a bit of refuge and turn to for upliftment? One place is right here. This album will help bring some light into your life as you put away for a few minutes the depressing daily news and the world's cynicism and escape into an idealistic, imaginary universe - one of divine radiance and cocooned blissfulness. Its comforting and cheering influence upon the hearer not only ephemerally protects, but also rejuvenates one's battery, re-energizing it with a positive charge, in order to help one face the realistic nadir once again, and until your next rapturous listening of it.

In The Midst Of Angels (1998) is one of the most numinous within Dan Gibson's Solitudes series. Each CD within the vast catalogue is a delightful aural retreat and a spiritual refreshment in its own right, but this release, I find, rises above the others and is especially magnificent, in that the listener is treated not only to tranquil nature sounds of birds and flowing water, but this time soothing "supernatural" sounds as well - that is to say, the heavenly vocalizations of a 24 voice choir (the Bell 'Arte Singers). It is this inclusion that makes In The Midst Of Angels (9 tracks; 57:10) a transcendent entry within this impressive musical catalogue.

This brilliant masterpiece was recorded in Toronto; its haloed music composed, arranged, and performed by John Herberman, with Dan Gibson once again providing the nature sounds. But like I said, it's that sublime choral ingredient that makes this release most exceptional.

The entire emotionally elevating album takes my mind and spirit far, far away to an ultramarine, incorporeal sky of shimmering illumination and puffy, white clouds that sub for air-mattresses.

All of the tracks are effulgent and recreative. The highlight for me, though, is Canyon Legacy; it is especially resplendent and lullabying, and is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

The only downside of this album is in having to leave it.
