5.0 out of 5 stars Riveting story from page one...
I grabbed this book with the intention of just reading a few pages. But I was hooked. I read the story almost straight through. While the prose wasn't perfect at first, the story was so good I honestly didn't notice once I got into it. In the Midst of Deceit is a first novel. In my opinion, the beginning stutters just a little, but the story and the writing both grow stronger throughout the book.

Piccurelli has a gift that will only get better with time. I encourage you to consider getting in on the "ground floor" in experiencing her storytelling.

I grabbed this book with the intention of just reading a few pages. But I was hooked. I read the story almost straight through. While the prose wasn't perfect at first, the story was so good I honestly didn't notice once I got into it. The tension between the hero and heroine was fabulous and honestly one of the best portrayals of romantic tension I've read in awhile. The kisses were delicious and probably my favorite scenes. But there was so much more depth to the story than that. Truly! Plus, the suspense was awesome and very well done. The people felt like my friends long before the book ended. I truly cared about them and I think I fell in love with Slade, too. His characterization and growth was perfectly done! I loved this book and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves romantic suspense.

As a partner in a financial management firm, Slade Mitchell has discovered a mysterious computer file that makes him wonder about the company's integrity. A few days later he is in a sky diving accident that almost kills him and leaves him in a wheelchair.
Slade feels abandoned by his partners and friends and plunges into a deep sea of insecurity and loneliness. Stasi Courtland, his neighbor offers friendship and encouragement, but Stasi is a Christian and Slade long ago rejected that lifestyle.
As Slade, who suffered a mental lapse from his injuries, starts to regain his memory, he realizes the sky diving incident might not have been an accident.
Now he and Stasi must work together to quickly find the people who are attempting to kill him before it is too late. An entertaining and spiritually uplifting story and one you'll enjoy reading

This review is from: In the Midst of Deceit: A Novel (Paperback)
I found "In The Midst Of Deceit" to be a well rounded adventure with enough suspense and romance to be an attractive read to a wide audience. I can't wait for her next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm hooked on Piccurelli, August 6, 2004
This review is from: In the Midst of Deceit: A Novel (Paperback)
This novel was one of easiest reads, keeping me turning pages anxious for the next scene. The dialogue is realistic. The inspirational aspect is just that -"inspiring." However, it doesn't overwhelm the reader. It is not preachy or too Christian, like many inspirational novels. Kudos! Great job! I love Stasi and Slade!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Read!, June 7, 2004
This review is from: In the Midst of Deceit: A Novel (Paperback)
I am not an avid reader, however, I was captivated from the moment I picked this book up and simply could not put it down! It held my attention, was easy to read, and I thoroughly enjoyed both the plot and the charactors. I can't wait until her next book!
