When the King and Queen of the Fairies meddle with four mismatched lovers, things go from bad to worse. Hermia loves Lysander but is betrothed to Demetrius, who has stolen Helena's heart. Add a touch of enchantment from the mischievous sprite Puck and a dollop of thespian bungling from Nick Bottom, and mix vigorously. The result is a delightful and breathless comedy of errors. Among the players are Amanda Root, Saskia Wickham, and Roy Hudd as Nick Bottom.

Uncut and fully dramatized, it transports us deftly from the wedding of Duke Theseus and Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, into the bewildering confusions of the night forest, where magic and mischief abound. The forest where Hermia and Lysander, Helena and Demetrius finally are betrothed bewitches us with its array of night sounds, and the fairy world is easily identified by the soft electronic echo in the voices of Oberon, Titania and Puck. Wonderful new audio version that everyone should own,

Wow! Anyone who thinks Shakespeare is inaccessible should settle down with Arkangel's new series of the complete plays on audio tape. The most magical of the Bard's comedies sounds as if it's happening right in your living room! Better than Seinfeld -- better than Friends -- one of the best stories ever has been reinterpreted by a new generation of brilliant young actors, and made available to all. What a great introduction to Shakespeare. I can't wait for the rest of the plays to come out!
