You can change characters in Gauntlet,

Hello All
I really love this compilation, a lot of old favs are here. The main reason I'm writing is to let people know how to change character in Gauntlet, I couldn't work out how the same as one of the reviewers above but found the solution on a site after much searching. Basically load the game, before clicking play hit (square) instead for options you can choose the character your credits go to there. I was gutted when I thought I was stuck playing Warrior, now I'm happy as Larry. Cheers

I own 15 or so games for my PSP, but I always find myself coming back to this one. If you're sitting in a doctor's waiting room or have only a little time to kill, you can play one of these games. Most of the time I am playing my PSP, I don't have 30 minutes to do a GTA mission and I don't have enough time to play an entire game of NBA or Madden, but I can always knock out a game or two of Paperboy or Mortal Kombat. I played alot of these games growing up and some of them are still my faves. Seems like alot of people don't like this game, but I think it's definitely worth buying.

This is a decent collection of old school arcade classics. If you have the playstation 2, then these are just cherry picked titles from Midway Arcade Treasures 1 and 2. There is nothing new on the psp that is not on those two titles. This is a nice sampling of Midway titles from the era. The transition is pretty smooth, though the wide screen does seem to distort a few of the games. No widescreen arcade games back in the 80's. The play is simple and fun for passing some time. You can't save, so for the most part you will just play a quick game or two. I think this and Capcom are pretty good collections for the psp.

I bought this solely to play Rampage, but I guess I had forgotten how much fun Mortal Kombat was. A lot of these games were the ones I played at home or the local arcade when I was in elementary school. I'm not so much a fan of the newer games or consoles, but as soon as I saw I could get these games with PSP I had to get one.
I would recommend this to anyone who had a great time playing these games as a kid.

This is the problem with reading reviews before you purchase something, sometimes everyone is wrong. The controls for this game SUCK. The only games I like are the mortal kombat 1, 2, 3, triolgy. I have MK 2 on the ps3 network and that was a good make over to the new system, however the change over to the psp was not so great. There are long loading times between matches and the sound is cheap, unlike the revamp 5.1 dolby digital for the ps3 version. and the controls are very unresponsive, you have to use the analog stick to jump and the directional stick to perform combos and other special moves which I find incredibly difficult to do. BAD BAD MAKEOVER.

I got this for my 12 year old grandson. He is enjoying playing all of the games and trying to ace them. He is very pleased with this package, since there are other ones to play. Shipment was on time for Christmas, and in good packaging.

The midway game has some very good games, but they are so old I get bored quick. Growing up after most of these came out in 80's I played these games on sega genesis or old arcade games in the mid 90's. Besides the mortal kombat's which came out when I was a kid and was banned from them after my mom saw a couple fatalities.
My favorite titles in the game are: 1 Mortal Kombat's probobly 3 then 2 then 1. You get the first 3 in the compilation. Games are sick with fatalities and blood. So much better than the rest of the games though... 2 Paperboy Just a fun game I played on sega. Three dificulties and the roads are named such. Like HARD WAY. 3 Rampage! Played this at the drive in around 1996 and spent 5 bucks every time i went. Be a monster punch buildings till they fall over and eat people. Sounds like a bad horror movie and kinda looks like one. FUN though. 4 Spy Hunter I always sucked as a kid at this and still kinda do, but it is fun. Drive a car use spy stuff like smoke and go fast 5 Arch Rivals This was the idea for NBA JAm i am guessing. The game is 2 on 2 and you can punch guys to steal the ball. Shooting very easy like NBA JAM was. Graphics worse though, no awesome dunks, and no BOOMSHAKALAKA's. 6 Defender fly around as a space ship blow up stuff but the graphics are terrible. Like a really 80's arcade game. Can be fun though and can be dull 2 I might get some hate mail, but the rest of the games SUCK. Xbots i played for 5 minutes and will never play again. GO to wikipedia and type in MIDWAY ARCADE TREASURES EXTENDED PLAY for the list of all the games, but in reality those 6 I like are the only games I will ever play again. Might not even play defender cause the graphics are sooooo bad. Well the verdict is the game is worth 10 bucks no more. I would not pay anymore than that and I paid 9. I give it a 3 out of 5 to just barely. If you grew up a few years before me you may appreciate the older games more, but MORTAL KOMBAT'S are the best here and without them I would give a 1 out of 5. BTW THERE IS NO ONLINE WHATSOEVER FOR MORTAL KOMBAT SO UNLESS YOU GOT A BUDDY WITH THIS GAME AND PSP WILL YOU ONLY BE PLAYING THE COMPUTER.

The graphics are amazingly detailed. Just like the arcade versions...only portable. My only complaint is the layout of the PSP controls. This would be a great system if I could attach the PSP to a TV and use my own joystick/game pad. My right hand starts to cramp up when playing Joust. Pressing "X" everytime to flap the wings gets tedious. Too bad you can't hold the button down for auto fire! I love how they included ALL the Mortal Kombats (1-3). I can't describe how awesome the graphics are in comparison to the Nintendo/Genesis ports of these same games. This compilation would be more complete if it had NARC on there.
